Jannik Sinner accepts having ‘sleepless nights’ during Wimbledon because of ‘failed’ doping tests
Jannik Sinner has revealed that he suffered sleepless nights during Wimbledon because of the doping controversy.
Jannik Sinner recalled the dark days of his doping saga and how the issue affected his on-court performances. The Italian revealed that he had sleepless nights during Wimbledon because of the failed tests.
Sinner tested positive for clostebol, which is a banned substance, while competing at the Indian Wells Masters in March. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) investigated it and later announced that the amount of Clostebol found in the World No. 1‘s body couldn’t enhance his performance, and he was cleared to continue playing.
The Italian defended himself by stating that the banned substance entered his body during a massage from his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi, who used an over-the-counter spray. However, the news about Sinner’s doping ruling has stirred up different conceptions among tennis legends and players.
In an interview with ESPN, the Italian revealed that the controversy led him to sustain a hip injury and affected his performance at Wimbledon.
During Wimbledon, for example, there were sleepless nights because I was thinking this, there were some physical issues maybe also because of this too, hip, illness. The first issue came because of the hip in Monaco exactly when it came out. So there has been some very tough moments throughout this whole process.Jannik Sinner said

Jannik Sinner has admitted that he has low expectations at the US Open because of what he is going through. Despite the World No. 1 claiming that he never did anything wrong, he has come under the spotlight since the doping controversy. His performances will be keenly watched in the men’s singles at the US Open.
The 23-year-old has been in brilliant form his year, winning five titles, including two Masters 1000 titles and the Australian Open. He has an outstanding record of 48 wins out of 53 matches this season. However, the Italian heads into the US Open with low expectations.
I have low expectations because of everything I am going through.
