Darren Cahill announced earlier this year that he will leave Jannik Sinner's team after the end of the 2025 season.

Jannik Sinner took just an hour and 34 minutes to crush Jiri Lehecka 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 and move into another French Open fourth round. It was one of the most brutal performances in the clay-court Major in recent years.

Sinner has now handed two bagels to two different opponents so far in the tournament. The first was Richard Gasquet, whose career the Italian ace ended after victory in the third round. Following the complete demolition of Lehecka, Sinner sat down for an interview with TNT Sports where he was asked about the most annoying habit of his coach Darren Cahill.

He’s a very, very good man. But sometimes, what I don’t like is we all eat very healthy…and he just gets French fries or desserts and we’re all just watching him like ‘I wish I would be in your position.’ He has improved though. Now he puts in some vegetables.

Sinner also credited coach Simone Vagnozzi for the win. The Italian coach celebrated his birthday a day before Sinner’s match. Sinner, during his on-court interview, joked that he doesn’t perform well on Vagnozzi’s birthday.

This is the fourth time Sinner registered a bagel this season. Before Gasquet and Lehecka, the Italian youngster bageled two-time French Open finalist Casper Ruud, and Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Italian Open, respectively.

Darren Cahill could continue working with Jannik Sinner after the 2025 season

Under Darren Cahill and Simone Vagnozzi (both of who joined his team back in 2022), Jannik Sinner achieved massive success as he became a World No.1, won three Grand Slam titles, as well as an ATP Finals trophy. The Aussie coach, however, will no longer be a part of Sinner’s entourage.

Cahill announced during Sinner’s campaign at the Australian Open this year that he would leave his team after the 2025 season. Vagnozzi, during an interview with Sky Sports before Sinner’s third-round clash, said that he is trying to convince the 59-year-old to keep working with the three-time Grand Slam champion.

We haven’t started looking for anyone to replace Cahill yet because now there are Paris, Wimbledon, and tournaments that are more important. If you ask me, I hope Darren stays next year and that we can still have continuity. I’m trying to convince him, let’s see.

Jannik Sinner to play Andrey Rublev next

Even though Lehecka was no match for Sinner, the latter knows that one great result won’t do him much good if he doesn’t maintain his level throughout the tournament. Sinner is now preparing to lock horns with another tough opponent, in the form of Andrey Rublev, who didn’t play his third-round match because Arthur Fils gave him a walkover.

The upcoming match will be Sinner’s 10th meeting with the Russian. In their nine encounters, Sinner defeated the World No.15 six times. Thrice they have met on clay where Sinner beat the 27-year-old two times.

Rublev is a two-time quarterfinalist at the French Open, reaching the last eight in 2020 and 2022. Sinner, on the other hand, made it to the semifinals last year and lost a five-set battle to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz. The 23-year-old will meet the four-time Grand Slam champion if they both reach the final.

Before that, Sinner may have to deal with his good friend Jack Draper in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal, the reigning Australian Open champion could set up a blockbuster clash with 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic.

Sinner, who is chasing the second title of the season after the Australian Open, improved his win-loss record to 15-1 this season. He has also extended his Grand Slam winning streak to 17 matches as before the Melbourne Slam, Sinner last September lifted his first US Open title.
