Jannik Sinner confident of a bright future for Italian tennis

Jannik Sinner is one of the most promising names on the tennis circuit. He had a breakthrough season last year, where he won his first ATP title at the Sofia Open. The Italian also managed to reach the quarterfinals of the French Open, eventually bowing out to Rafael Nadal.

The ATP Circuit is flooded with promising Italian players and Sinner is just one of them. Lorenzo Musetti, another Italian prodigy is destined for a bright future. Lorenzo Sonego also announced himself on the big stage last year, after he reached the finals of the Vienna Open, defeating Novak Djokovic in the last eight encounter.

On the other hand, Fabio Fognini and Matteo Berrettini are some of the well-recognized names who have been leading Italian tennis over the past few years. Sinner is excited about the prospect of Italian tennis in the coming future, “Everyone is different, has different styles, so I think that’s very exciting,” Sinner told reporters in Dubai.

Lorenzo Musetti rose to prominence last year at the Italian Masters where he defeated Stan Wawrinka. He created another upset this week in Acapulco as he defeated the third seed, Diego Schwartzman in three sets. Jannik Sinner opined that Musetti is a great talent and was an all-round player.

Musetti is a big, big talent. He can do everything with the ball already, so he’s already physically strong. I think he’s a great player . He’s serving big and going for shots,” said Sinner. “I’m excited for Italian tennis and I think everyone can do well in every tournament,” he added.

Jannik Sinner defeated Roberto Bautista Agut in the last 16 clash at the Dubai Open yesterday and will face the Russian, Aslan Karatsev in a tricky quarterfinal fixture.
