- Jannik Sinner is on a 20-match winning streak in Masters 1000 events.
- He aims to become the second player to win back-to-back titles at Indian Wells, Miami Open, and Monte-Carlo Masters in the same year.
- Sinner will face Alexander Zverev in the Monte-Carlo Masters semifinals, having won their last seven matchups.
Jannik Sinner is on a 20-match winning streak in Masters 1000 events. The last time he lost a match was in the third round of last year’s Shanghai Masters (he actually handed the walkover to Tallon Griekspoor). Since that mid-match retirement, Sinner clinched the 2025 Paris Masters against Felix Auger-Aliassime, and after his Australian Open and Qatar Open exit this season, he completed the Sunshine Double.
The Italian ace beat Daniil Medvedev in the California desert and Jiri Lehecka in the Miami Open final. He is now competing at the Monte-Carlo Masters, and his victory will make him only the second man to win back-to-back titles at the Indian Wells, Miami Open, and the Monte-Carlo Masters in the same calendar year.
Djokovic achieved the remarkable feat in 2015. “GOAT [Greatest of All Time] trying to meet another GOAT this point,” said former WTA player CoCo Vandeweghe on Tennis Channel.
It’s crazy to see that level of tennis, like you said. The one thing that I looked at in that stat that what seemingly crazy was his set streak.
Against Tomas Machac in the third round, Sinner dropped a set for the first time in a Masters 1000 match since the 2025 Shanghai Masters. He will be playing the semifinals in The Principality for the third time in his career, following the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Sinner skipped the tournament last year because of his doping ban.
To be able to not only win as many matches as he has, but the dominance of winning it, and beating all these men in straight sets along the way in these Masters 1000s, it’s been two different types of 1000s. The two-weeker back to back, which is like playing back-to-back Grand Slams, and then now, right back to the clay court season, seemingly like he hasn’t missed a step.
CoCo Vandeweghe added
After his victory over Auger-Aliassime, Sinner also matched a record (only the Big 3 (Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer) have recorded. It’s the record of winning 20 matches in a row at the Masters 1000 level.
Jannik Sinner to play Alexander Zverev in the Monte-Carlo Masters semifinals
Up against Jannik Sinner will be a player whom he has defeated in their last seven matchups. It’s Alexander Zverev, who stopped Joao Fonseca from reaching his first Masters 1000 semifinal.

I feel like it was a step forwards today. It was a very tough match. I knew I had to get better in certain areas. The serve is not there yet, where I would love it [to be], but all things considered, I’m very happy. Yesterday I was very tired. I recovered very well in this night’s sleep. Let’s see what’s coming tomorrow, but in any case, very happy to be back in the semis.
Jannik Sinner said during the on-court interview when asked about his match against Tomas Machac
Sinner is the winner of one clay-court title. Back in 2022, he lifted the Croatia Open by defeating his arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz. Last year, after making his comeback from the doping ban at the Italian Open, he reached the final but failed to beat the seven-time Grand Slam champion.
It was Alcaraz who denied him victory at the French Open. If Alcaraz wins the title, he will remain at the top of the rankings. But if Sinner wins, he will dethrone the Spaniard and occupy the top spot. Alcaraz is bidding to defend the title and, in fact, has 4,300 points to defend on the clay swing, having won the Monte-Carlo Masters, Italian Open, and the French Open last year.
