Jannik Sinner shared that he trained with Lois Boisson in the past, shortly after both players reached the Roland Garros semi-finals. A video of the two practicing together before their quarterfinal matches quickly spread online. Their early morning session highlighted a bond formed long before either stepped into the global spotlight.

After his straight-sets victory over Alexander Bublik, Sinner spoke about his longtime connection with Boisson. He revealed they had known each other for years and recently caught up, just before Boisson’s unexpected breakthrough at the tournament. Sinner said in his Roland Garros press conference:

It’s amazing, no? That’s exactly what France needs. Something very new, very special. Great mentality. I think she’s someone who’s quite calm on the court. At least she seems like it. She had knee surgery not long ago. Even that gives her some great confidence hopefully for her future. We actually were in the same center for a little while, back in the days. We practiced sometimes together there. So I know her already for some time ago. I saw her before the tournament in the gym. We talked a bit about how things are. She was very happy.

Boisson, who entered the event as a wildcard, has stunned fans with her impressive run. She defeated two top players—Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva—in back-to-back matches to reach the semi-finals in her first Grand Slam main draw.

With her recent wins, Boisson became the lowest-ranked player to reach a major semifinal in four decades. At just 22 years old, she has now become a new symbol of hope and pride for French tennis.

Alexander Bublik sings songs of praise for Jannik Sinner

Alexander Bublik expressed his admiration for Jannik Sinner after falling to the Italian in the Roland Garros quarterfinals. He acknowledged Sinner’s top ranking and predicted a bright future filled with major titles for him.

He’s an established top 2 players of the world right now. He deserves #1. Multiple grand slam champion. That’s something that probably few people can touch in general. For me, as I said many times, he’s on another dimension with all the aspects of the game.

The match marked Bublik’s first appearance in a Grand Slam quarterfinal. He entered the clash after a standout win over Jack Draper in the previous round. However, nerves were evident in the opening set against Sinner, as he struggled with unforced errors while the Italian quickly took control.

In the second set, Bublik raised his level. He used drop shots and more aggressive play to test Sinner, who stayed solid and broke at a crucial moment late in the set. The Italian maintained composure and kept up the pressure from the baseline to edge closer to the win.

Sinner dominated the third set with consistent depth and control, finishing the match in straight sets. Bublik, who also beat Alex de Minaur earlier in the tournament, will rise to No. 43 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings thanks to his strong run in Paris.

Sinner controlled the match from the beginning on Court Philippe-Chatrier. He used his clean shot-making to neutralize Bublik’s power and wrapped up the win 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 in just under two hours. The current World No. 1 has now won 19 consecutive Grand Slam matches, including title runs at the US Open and Australian Open.

He is aiming to capture his first French Open title and will next face Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. Sinner has a tied head-to-head record with Djokovic.

Sinner joins Lorenzo Musetti in the final four, marking the first time in the Open Era that two Italian men have reached a Grand Slam semifinal together. This season, Sinner has already claimed multiple titles and reached the final in Rome. He has not lost a set in Paris so far, continuing his strong form from the past year.
