Following the doping controversy, Jannik Sinner parted ways with Giacomo Naldi, the physiotherapist, due to whom Sinner landed in trouble. Naldi was hurt as the controversy tarnished his reputation.
It all happened after Naldi used a spray to treat a cut on his finger. The spray had clostebol as one of the ingredients and, unknowingly, Naldi massaged Sinner and through the lesions on the latter’s body, clostebol entered his system. Clostebol, the performance-enhancing steroid, that has been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), was found for the first time in Sinner’s body at low levels during the Indian Wells.
Although the World No.1 has been cleared of any wrongdoing, he and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) have been at the receiving end of severe criticism. The tennis fraternity thinks it’s unfair to those who have also faced a similar situation like Sinner, but the ITIA took years to clear them of the charges. Amidst the scandal, Naldi took to Instagram and accused the media of destroying “people and their reputation.“
It’s true that there are two paths to justice: the real one sanctioned by the courts and the (unfortunately more effective) sanctioned by media. The latter is too often superficial and rarely based on concrete facts, which in this case, by the way, are public.Giacomo Naldi wrote on Instagram

Novak Djokovic calls for standardized protocols for every player
Novak Djokovic joined the debate about Jannik Sinner‘s doping row, saying he understands why almost everyone is frustrated. The Serb thinks the case was cleared the “moment it was announced,” which is not what many players dealing with doping charges have faced.

The most recent doping scandal before Sinner was that of Simona Halep. She was a victim of accidental contamination and was banned for four years, but later it was reduced to nine months following her appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
We see a lack of standardized and clear protocols. I can understand the sentiments of a lot of players who are questioning whether they are treated the same.Novak Djokovic said at the press conference
Both Djokovic and Sinner will start their campaign at the US Open on August 27. Djokovic, who is chasing his 25th Grand Slam title, will be locking horns with Radu Albot in the opening round, while top seed Sinner will face Mackenzie McDonald.
