Jannik Sinner has added a new member to his team after ending the 2025 Grand Slam season at the US Open. The former World No.1 was spotted with Alejandro Resnicoff at an airport in Beijing after Sinner arrived for the China Open. The Italian star has now finally opened up about the reason behind hiring the physiotherapist.

Sinner’s last physiotherapist was Ulises Badio and he parted ways with him before the Wimbledon Championships. Their partnership lasted for just months as Badio had replaced Giacomo Naldi, who was heavily blamed for playing a major role in Sinner testing positive for clostebol in March 2024.

The new member of Sinner’s team comes just as the 24-year-old ended his 65-week reign as World No.1. The reason behind his drop to World No.2 came at the US Open, where he failed to defend the title after losing to Carlos Alcaraz in four sets in the final in New York. After the defeat, Sinner took a break from the tour.

He didn’t compete at the Laver Cup, which Alcaraz did. He arrived at the China Open a few days before the tournament started and has been with his new physiotherapist during their practice sessions. Sinner is hoping to claim the China Open following the absence of his rival and defending champion Alcaraz.

During his press conference, he was asked why he hired Alejandro Resnicoff as his permanent physiotherapist. The four-time Grand Slam champion revealed that he added Resnicoff to his team because of the level of his experience on the court and the understanding that he has with the rest of the team:

He has a lot of experience, has been working at the ATP for 15 years, dealing with many different players. The key is that he respects our way of being as a team, he doesn’t want to change everything radically, but rather aims to help improve specific aspects of my physical condition and body. He’s a very honest and pleasant person, has a family, and order in his life. I feel privileged to have him on my team.

Sinner will hope to work with Resnicoff for a long time after parting with two physiotherapists in just over a year. Also, he hopes to claim his third title of the season at the China Open after finishing as a runner-up last year, as he has an outstanding 9-1 record in Beijing, having won it in 2023.

Jannik Sinner admits he has made some changes to his game since the US Open title loss

Jannik Sinner will kick off his China Open campaign against Marin Cilic in his opening match at the French Open. Cilic is expected to make life difficult for Sinner, being a former US Open champion, and has recently begun to show his level on the court. If he gets past the Croatian star he’s projected to take on Terence Atmane or Zhang Zhizhen in the next round.

However, after losing the US Open in New York, Sinner revealed that he will make some changes to his game. During his press conference at the ATP 500 tournament, he revealed that he has been working on a lot of new things with his coaching team:

We’ve been reflecting a lot on that final. We are working on new things. We are changing a lot of small things. The amount of mistakes at the moment is for sure a little bit higher, but I hope that this recovers.

Sinner is projected to face Karen Khachanov if he gets past Zhizhen or Atmane in the second round. After that, a potential clash against Alex de Minaur or Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik awaits him. In the final, he could face Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, or Andrey Rublev.
