Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has stated that he values longevity and consistency after an impressive 2024 season. The World No. 1 has enjoyed one of the most dominant seasons this year, winning two Grand Slam titles, the ATP Finals, and the Davis Cup.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Sinner has expressed his goal to remain competitive in the sport well into his 30s. This approach mirrors the way the ‘Big 3’ maintained their dominance even beyond their peak years on the ATP Tour.

I’m only 23, not 27, and I’ve only had one season on top. The goal is not just to win for 3 years, but to still be in the game when I’m 30. This season has been incredible, but everything can change.

Sinner’s focus on consistency stems from his less physically demanding playing style compared to Carlos Alcaraz. As a result, he avoids frequent injuries or fatigue over a long season, unlike the Spaniard. However, Sinner did miss some major events during this year’s clay court season due to a hip injury.

Ahead of the 2025 season, Sinner has been practicing in Dubai with Next Gen stars. He will aim to defend his Australian Open title at Melbourne Park when the tournament begins in January.

Next Gen superstar draws inspiration from Jannik Sinner

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner is just 23 years old and has a bright future ahead. Despite having a long career still to come, the Italian star is already inspiring young players. One of his admirers is 19-year-old Jakub Mensik, a rising talent in tennis.

All of them were a source of inspiration because the Next Gen Finals is such a prominent event. A number of past champions have successfully transitioned to the upper echelons of the ATP Tour. Sinner particularly stands out as one of the early winners who, like me, competed at the same level when he participated in the event. It’s exciting to see fresh faces injecting new energy into tennis.

The groups for the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah were revealed recently. Arthur Fils, the top seed, was placed in the Red Group alongside Czech player Mensik. They will compete against American Learner Tien and Brazilian Joao Fonseca in the round-robin stage.

The other group includes American Alex Michelsen and China’s Shang Juncheng. They are joined by French player Luca Van Assche and American Nishesh Basavareddy. The top two players from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

The group matches will take place from Wednesday to Friday. The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, and the final will be held on Sunday. Mensik, inspired by his idol Sinner’s triumph at the ATP Finals last month, will aim to make his mark in Jeddah.
