Jannik Sinner has been achieving many a milestone at the 2024 US Open. After joining Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal on the list of active players to have reached the semifinals of all four Grand Slams, Sinner joined another elite company after qualifying for the final on Friday (September 6).

Sinner’s win against Britain’s Jack Draper in the semifinals was his 22nd win at a Grand Slam this year. With this, he became only the fifth player to register 22 or more wins at the Majors in a single season since 2001.

The list previously included Djokovic, Nadal, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray. The 23-year-old is the latest edition to the elite list.

Apart from that, Sinner also became the eighth man in history to have 10,000+ ATP ranking points.

Jannik Sinner has been on a spree in the 2024 season. The Italian started the year by winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. Now, he is on the verge of winning his maiden US Open title.

Despite coming into the tournament on the back of his doping controversy, Sinner has played flawless tennis in New York, and the semifinal against Jack Draper was no exception. After beating the Brit in straight sets, the Italian stated that he was happy with his performance.

Sinner, who became the first Italian to reach the US Open final in singles, expressed satisfaction with the season he has had and is looking forward to giving it his all in the title match on Sunday.

It was a physical match. I just tried to stay there mentally. He’s so tough to beat. It’s a special occasion. I’m just happy to be in the final. Whoever [his opponent in the final] it is it’s gonna be a tough challenge. The season I’ve had is very positive. Finals are very special. Every Sunday you get to play a tournament means you’re doing a good job. We’ll just try to keep pushing and see what I can do on Sunday.

Sinner has made it to the semifinal at all Grand Slams this season. He made semifinal exits at Roland Garros and Wimbledon while he clinched the title at the Australian Open. Sinner will be hoping to continue his strong run when he takes to the court against Taylor Fritz on Sunday.
