Jannik Sinner talked about his goal of improving his game right after losing the US Open final against Carlos Alcaraz. He wanted to become unpredictable.

Sinner was time and again asked about the areas of the game he wants to improve. When he was questioned about the same following his straight-set win over Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final of the Paris Masters, Sinner gave a glimpse into his strong mentality.

Look, I mean, if you go to a tournament of a hundred players, all hundred players, they want to improve, right? There is not one who is on the court just to hit some balls, you know. So I’m not doing something very special. I’m just doing the stuff what all other hundred players are doing. I just put a lot of effort in, you know. I really try to go over or out of my comfort zone at times, especially in practice sessions, to understand what can potentially give me something in the future.

The win has also helped the four-time Grand Slam champion reclaim his No.1 ranking from Alcaraz. Sinner is still in the second spot in the live rankings because of the ATP Finals, where he will be playing as the defending champion and has 1,500 points to defend. Last year, he lifted the year-end championship points without suffering defeat.

If you go to all the players, they went already through this process what I’m going through. Everyone is working on stuff. There is no magic. You know, there is a lot of work, and that’s it, you know.

Jannik Sinner added

Sinner now holds a 3-2 head-to-head record over the Canadian ace. En route to the win, the 24-year-old also knocked out defending champion Alexander Zverev in the last four.

Jannik Sinner is extremely happy after his Paris Masters win

The Paris Masters title was Jannik Sinner‘s third official title since his US Open defeat. He clinched the China Open and the Vienna Open, and later defended his title at the Six Kings Slam by beating Carlos Alcaraz. It was his fifth title of the season from nine finals.

It’s huge, honestly. It was such an intense final, and we both knew what was on the line. I’m extremely happy, the past couple of months have been amazing.

Jannik Sinner said during the trophy presentation

It was also his fifth Masters 1000 title of his career from nine finals. Before the Paris Masters, the last time Sinner clinched a trophy at this level was at the 2024 Shanghai Masters. He lost two Masters 1000 finals this year, at the Italian Open and the Cincinnati Masters, both to Alcaraz. The Paris Masters win was his third Big Title of the season, following the Australian Open and Wimbledon wins.

His next goal is the ATP Finals. Last year at the year-end championships, the World No.1 defeated Taylor Fritz to win his career’s first title in the tournament. Sinner also came close to winning the title in 2023 but failed to cross the final hurdle in the form of Novak Djokovic.

The ATP Finals start on November 18. Apart from Sinner, players to feature in the event are Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Fritz, and Alex de Minaur. Djokovic has also qualified, but his participation is uncertain as he also chose not to defend it last year.

Felix Auger-Alliassime and Lorenzo Musetti will continue their fight in the Metz Open to get a spot in the top eight of the ATP Finals. The former will chase his fourth title of the season, while the latter has yet to taste success this year.
