World No. 1 Jannik Sinner is on a roll. After missing out on the 2024 Paris Olympics, Sinner has won almost every tournament he has played. He first won the Cincinnati Masters title, his first at the ATP 1000 tournament.

The 23-year-old then went on to clinch his first US Open title a couple of weeks later. Sinner then went to China and reached the final of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing. Although he lost to Carlos Alcaraz, the Italian impressed everyone with his consistency.

It only got better for Sinner in Shanghai as he defeated the four-time champion Novak Djokovic in the final of the Masters tournament to win his seventh title of the season. Now, in Riyadh, the Italian defeated Alcaraz in the final of the inaugural edition of the Six Kings Slam exhibition tournament.

While it won’t go into the official records as it was an exhibition event, Sinner got the largest prize money for a tennis tournament in history — $6 million. This piece of news spread like wildlife fire on social media, leaving tennis fans wide-eyed.

Jannik Sinner dragged for his doping controversy

While many tennis fans were happy that Jannik Sinner deservingly won the title in Riyadh and the hefty prize money, quite a few fans took a jibe at the Italian. Sinner’s doping controversy was brought up after he pocketed an impressive sum in Saudi Arabia.

Critics claimed that Sinner should not be playing considering he had failed two doping tests. Meanwhile, a few fans made snide remarks about the Italian getting “magic potions” with the prize money he won in Riyadh.

Notably, while Sinner has been cleared by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) to play, the World Anti-Doping Agency has appealed against the decision. It has demanded at least a year’s ban for the Italian and its case will soon be heard in the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
