Jannik Sinner is doing what not on the court. He is now a five-time Grand Slam champion. In the recently concluded Wimbledon, the Italian ace overcame a set deficit to beat Alexander Zverev, becoming the 10th man in the Open Era to defend the trophy at the All England Club. And he was given a cheque of $4.8 million as prize money.

Sinner, who has so far earned $64,837,801 as prize money from his tennis career, is also the owner of multiple luxury cars, including a Ferrari 812 Competizione and a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S.

He loves cars and watches Formula One races whenever he gets the chance. But in one area, Sinner is a failure: in getting a motorbike license. He has failed the test not once, not twice, but four times.

After his Wimbledon victory, he went to the Central London hotel, where, as is the tradition, the Champions’ Ball took place late at night. And there, he admitted that before coming to London, he had failed the test for the fourth time.

I’ve failed it four times. Before I came here, I failed it once again. Maybe next year you can ask me the same question.

Jannik Sinner told the presenter during the Champions’ Dinner

As a highly professional athlete, Sinner, who likes Champagne, avoids alcohol during the season. But he rewarded himself with a glass of Champagne after his title defense at the All England Club, because of which he felt “tipsy”.

We have a lot of pressure. We have external problems sometimes, but at the end of the day, we always need to show up at the court, and we need to perform in the best possible way. […] Of course, sometimes you need some luck as well. This was also a lucky day for me because I can say it could have gone different ways. I’m a bit tipsy now. So I’ll try to talk very simple with the right words.

Sinner lifted his sixth title of the season. It was also his 17th Big Title (he has won five Majors, 10 Masters 1000s, and two ATP Finals).

Jannik Sinner opens up about his conversation with the British royal family

As is the custom, Jannik Sinner met the British royal family after his Wimbledon win. At the press conference later, the 24-year-old admitted that he found conversing with Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton and their kids, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, really difficult.

It was not easier (smiling). So much respect, so I never know where the line is. No, I think you can really see that they love the sport. This is exactly how we feel as players on court when we see them watching tennis. Staying there for four hours under the sun with the heat, it’s really nice. I asked the kids if they still play. They are very happy, yes, they do. We had a very, very small conversation.

Next is the North American hardcourt swing, and Sinner is on a 34-match winning streak in Masters 1000s. Sinner is scheduled to play the Canadian Open, which he won in 2023. Last year, he failed to defend his title at the Cincinnati Masters, losing to Carlos Alcaraz. Then at the US Open as well, the seven-time Grand Slam champion stopped Sinner from defending his title.

It was Alcaraz whom Sinner beat in last year’s final at SW19. The Spaniard skipped both the French Open and Wimbledon as he is nursing a wrist injury. Sinner suffered a second-round upset in Paris. The South Tyrol native now holds three titles on grass: two Wimbledon titles and the 2024 Halle Open.
