If Jannik Sinner stays healthy and aims for two Grand Slam titles every year, he will surpass Novak Djokovic with 30 titles, said Angelo Binaghi, the president of the Italian Tennis Federation (FITP). Djokovic, with 24 Grand Slam trophies, sits on top while Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are second and third with 22 and 20 titles respectively.
Sinner won his first Grand Slam title this season when he lifted the Australian Open. He then took home another hard-court major after his victory at the US Open. His rival Carlos Alcaraz was the winner of the French Open and the Wimbledon.
As these two youngsters are taking the tennis world by storm, there’s always the discussion about how many Grand Slam titles they will win in their career. While most of them think Sinner and Alcaraz will win at least 10 or more, Binaghi went a step further and stated that Sinner may add 30 Grand Slam titles to his cabinet.
Apart from the two Grand Slam trophies, Sinner also won five titles this season. He recently took home his first Shanghai Masters with a straight-set win over Djokovic.
Angelo Binaghi reveals what may stop Jannik Sinner from winning more Grand Slam titles
Injuries ruin tennis players’ careers as it forces them to either retire early or hinder them from winning more Grand Slam trophies. Angelo Binaghi has no doubt about Jannik Sinner‘s ability to clinch more Grand Slam titles but he wants the 23-year-old to always be in ‘perfect shape’.
Sinner recently played the Six Kings Slam exhibition event in Riyadh where he bagged the $6 million after his triumph over Carlos Alcaraz in the final. He is set to play at the Paris Masters which is scheduled to start on October 29. The World No.1 is 65-6 this season.
