Following his French Open heartbreak, Jannik Sinner took his revenge with a four-set win over arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz. During the customary Wimbledon ball, Sinner danced with Iga Swiatek.

The Pole ended her title drought at SW19 by double-bageling Amanda Anisimova, winning her first title on grass. After Sinner’s win, he celebrated it with his team by drinking champagne and came late to the Wimbledon ball. The four-time Grand Slam champion recently sat for an interview with Sky Sports, where he was asked about the dance with Swiatek.

I drank a little bit before it [laughing], but it was cute, it was nice!

Prior to Wimbledon, the six-time Grand Slam champion played her first final of the season at the Bad Homburg Open, where she failed to beat Jessica Pegula. Following her Wimbledon win, Swiatek clinched the Cincinnati Open and the Korea Open.

The WTA Finals is underway in Riyadh, and Swiatek, for the second consecutive time, failed to progress to the semifinals. She beat Madison Keys but lost to Elena Rybakina and Amanda Anisimova.

The ATP Finals starts on November 9, and Sinner will enter the tournament in Turin as the defending champion. Last year, he defeated Taylor Fritz en route to winning all his matches in straight sets, also winning his three round robin matches, because of which, he now has 1,500 points to defend in the upcoming event.

While Swiatek had already lost the year-end No.1 to Aryna Sabalenka, Sinner has the chance to end the season at the top of the rankings table. He dropped to the second spot after he failed to defend his US Open title, losing the final in four sets to Alcaraz, who dethroned him. But Sinner returned to the top after winning the Paris Masters against Felix Auger-Aliassime. Sinner has 10,000 points in the live ranking, while Alcaraz has 11,050.

Steve Johnson on the insane thing Jannik Sinner has done this year

This season, Jannik Sinner has lost to only three players so far. After winning the Australian Open by defeating Alexander Zverev and serving his three-month doping ban, Sinner returned on court only to lose to Carlos Alcaraz in the finals of the Italian Open and French Open.

Sinner then entered the Halle Open to defend his title, but failed to go past eventual champion Alexander Bublik in the second round. The third player he lost to was Tallon Griekspoor.

Sinner, in fact, did not lose it because, due to cramps, he was forced to throw in the towel against the Dutchman in the third round of the Shanghai Masters, where he was the defending champion. Former player Steve Johnson finds this stat insane.

He lost to three people all season. This is insane to me. Like that is insane! I know we had a three-month hiatus, but he lost to Carlos, Griekspoor, he retired, and Bublik. Can you guys imagine going an entire season and just losing to three players? It’s crazy!

Steve Johnson said during the Nothing Major podcast

Sinner now has the most titles this season after Alcaraz, who defeated him in four finals. The Spaniard has claimed eight titles from 10 finals. The titles he lifted were at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, China Open (by beating Learner Tien), Vienna Open (beat Zverev), and the Paris Masters.

Apart from these titles, the 24-year-old also defended his Six Kings Slam exhibition title by breezing past Alcaraz, taking home the $6 million prize money. This season, Sinner failed to defend six titles, and the ATP Finals is the only tournament left where he will enter as the defending champion.
