The Detroit Lions shocked the entire NFL this season after the team managed to dominate and win the NFC North for the first time since 1993.
The team made a deep playoff run by beating the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card Round and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Divisional Round.

Despite putting up a good fight in the Championship round against the San Francisco 49ers, the Lions fell short of winning the NFC and earning a trip to the Super Bowl.
Despite the team’s high-flying season, the Detroit Lions continue to be viewed as underdogs, and by the team’s local media. Jared Goff, the quarterback for the Lions recently appeared on Willbo YT channel to sit down for a podcast.
The quarterback, who helped turn the fate of a franchise around criticized the local media for ushering in negativity and doubting the local heroes despite their amazing run this season.
I have this thing with our local media where they almost relish in negativity at times. And maybe that's what gets clicks and that's what sells. But it's no longer what they need to live in. Like hey guys, we have a good team. We've had success. We can be happy about that, we can celebrate that, and not have to write about how we're constantly the underdogs.Jared Goff said
The Detroit Lions continue to be perceived as underdogs by the local media
The only plausible justification for this behavior from the media would be the fact that at times, negativity does attract clicks online. The perspective that infuriates Goff is whether the Lions will be able to repeat their magic once again next season.

Was this year a fluke? Are the Lions one-and-done? These questions gain more relevancy considering the fact that the team lost C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Zach Ertz, Josh Reynolds, Tracy Walker, Cam Cutton, Jonah Jackson, and Julian Okwara to free agency.
Those departures do have an impact upon the team chemistry but Jared Goff is not doubting the ability of the Lions to have yet another successful season.
The Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and the Minnesota Vikings have not made remarkable additions to their roster in the offseason. The Packers will be the biggest threat to the Lions in the NFC North. Realistically, the Lions can win the division once again.
Jared Goff summed up the local Detroit media perfectly in his latest interview.

The relevant question to ask would be if the Lions will be able to cope with the changes on the rosters of other teams across the division. The Eagles and Falcons have significantly become better through key additions in free agency. The San Francisco 49ers still remain a considerable threat to the Lions. If there is one thing that Detroit has shown fans this season, never count them out. The team will make it against all odds!
