The Detroit Lions led by Jared Goff in the center staked their claim on the NFC with a resounding win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Lions crushed the AFC side with a 52-6 win at the Ford Field in Detroit.
Despite staging a comeback win over the Houston Texans, the Lions’ QB Jared Goff had received much criticism for his five interceptions. The game also dampened the 30-year-old Californian’s stake in the NFL MVP race. The recent game against the Jaguars has reawakened the claim on what is developing to be a pretty tight race.
The Detroit Lions had absolute power over the Jaguars. The latter took home their biggest loss in franchise history as the Lions scored on every possession except the final kneel-down. The win also solidified their best position alongside the Kansas City Chiefs with the current best record in the league. Now there’s more ammunition for the Lions to charge to a never-seen fight and take home the Lombardi.
Goff had a stellar outing with a historic perfect passer rating. He threw 24-of-29 for 412 yards with four TDs. The 30-year-old now claims 20 passing TDs in the 2024 season, ranking fourth with 2492 passing yards and a completion rate of 73. Speaking to reporters, Goff noted that he came all prepared to rule the field.
Goff made the truth of coach Dan Campbell’s statement after the last game. During an appearance on the 97.1 The Ticket, Campbell went a step further calling the player’s performance a good game.
Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff makes comeback to MVP status
Jared Goff has re-entered the NFL MVP conversations after a disastrous outing in the last game. The blowout win saw Goff gaining some booster points in a close race for MVP. Goff is now in the race alongside reigning MVP Lamar Jackson, Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow, Derrick Henry, and a couple of others.
Fans have been delighted with the QB’s resurgence. Recently, he won the NFL midseason MVP by Fox through a fans’ poll.

However, some have denied the claims. There have been some fans who have accused Goff of stat-padding against a weaker team.
80% of these stats were statpadded can we stop hyping up this bum
