Jason Kelce Openly Comes in Support of Ex-Teammate Jalen Hurts Amid Uncoachable Talks
Jason Kelce predicts that Jalen Hurts will bounce back from the disappointment of the 2025 season when the Eagles were knocked out in the wildcard round.

In reality, Jalen Hurts’ impact on the Philadelphia Eagles cannot be ignored or denied. Since making his debut, Hurts has helped the Eagles win multiple NFC East and conference titles. As a cherry on top, the Eagles went to two Super Bowls during that time, winning one in 2025.
Jason Kelce captained the offense during Hurts’ first Super Bowl run, including several games later on. Unfortunately, he retired a year before the Eagles recorded a victory against the Kansas City Chiefs in the final showdown.
Despite the Eagles’ success with Hurts as the starting quarterback, there are still doubters of his craft. They came out in full force after the Eagles got knocked out in the wild-card round earlier this year. After ESPN published an article blaming Hurts for the offense’s poor performance, the hate campaign caught a second wind.
That said, not everyone is against Hurts. For instance, Kelce came to the 27-year-old’s defense on the Pat McAfee Show.
What quarterback doesn’t want to run their stuff? This has kind of been a semblance of things that have been coming out over multiple years. The reality is, sometimes these things that are weaknesses when you’re losing, people view them as strengths when you’re winning.

Jalen Hurts has been thru a lot of change and it's going to be a drastically different offense this season..

Kelce, joined live from the Augusta Masters, noted that Hurts has not had an easy path to success, certainly from a coaching standpoint. Despite churning through 11 different offensive coordinators, dating back to his college days at Alabama, Hurts has proved he possesses the tools to win games when it matters most.
Once again, he will have a new coordinator. Sean Mannion is poised to run the show in 2026 after the Eagles fired Kevin Patullo earlier this year. According to Kelce, the playbook will look very different in the Mannion era.
I think the drama’s going to start going in the other direction, at some point.
Kelce concluded
Before getting to that part, the Eagles sent out a clear message to Hurts, telling him to improve his gameplay to get a second big paycheck in two years’ time.
Former Eagles quarterback has faith in Jalen Hurts’ abilities
The ESPN report called Hurts an “uncoachable” athlete with “poor body language.” Skip Bayless viewed this statement as a warning toward Hurts and his declining standards. As the Eagles brass could not criticize Hurts directly, they planted the story to take a stand.

Former Eagles linebacker Ike Reese is not worried about Hurts. Reese believes that Hurts “can answer” every question on the gridiron.
I’m comfortable moving forward with Jalen Hurts as my face of the franchise and the franchise quarterback… [Jalen] has been a part of more winning teams than he has been losing teams that goes back to his college days. Now, there is a bit of a caveat in there. He’s always had pretty good talent around him, with the exception of 2021, which was his first year as a starter. After that, they pretty much put the talent around Jalen, and I’m okay with that.

Since making his first appearance in a win over the New Orleans Saints in 2020, Jalen Hurts has played a total of 93 games for the Eagles, posting a 57-25 win/loss record. He has completed 17,891 yards, thrown 110 touchdowns and 45 interceptions, and rushed for 3554 yards and scored 63 touchdowns. In the playoffs, he has a 6-4 record, with 1981 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions; he also added 10 TDs on the ground.
