Football fans knew the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys losing to the Washington Commanders on the road was high. Their team was lacking confidence after blowout losses. To make matters worse, this was billed as a bounce back game for Jayden Daniels and his teammates after two straight defeats.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Cowboys defense though, kept their side of the bargain. They stopped Daniels from progressing on multiple occasions and even intercepted him once. All of this while Cooper Rush threw two touchdowns to give them a sizeable lead.

With the pressure on the home team, Jayden Daniels went to work and scored a touchdown to bring them closer. However, on the very next play, KaVontae Turpin evaded Commanders players to score a 99-yard kick return touchdown.

This put further pressure on the rookie QB, and all he could muster up was a field goal. But on the next drive, his defensive teammates stopped the Cowboys and gave the ball back to their rookie, knowing how clutch he can be.

He took the snap, dropped back a few yards and threw to leading wideout Terry McLaurin. The receiver took one step to his left and switched on his afterburners to run into the end zone. On that play, the Cowboys defense were blitzed, which led analyst Greg Olsen to go on hype mode.

OH. MY. GOSH. 86 yards. They dropped 11 guys in coverage. If they just tackle him in bounds, the game is over. I’m absolutely speechless.

Five defenders were around Terry McLaurin on that play. Had one of them made a shoe-string tackle or pushed him out of bounds, they could have stopped the score. That 86-yard touchdown meant the Commanders were now just one point away.

Jayden Daniels and Commanders lose on kicking mistakes

As the entire team was celebrating that unreal touchdown, head coach Dan Quinn was seen signaling with one finger. Which meant they were going to take their chances in overtime after tying the game. Or at least, that is what he expected from place-kicker Austin Seibert.

But once the ball left Seibert’s foot, it sailed wide to his left as the referees signaled ‘no good’. So much so that the six-year veteran held both his hands on his head, knowing he just cost his team. That missed field goal meant the Washington Commanders had to try recovering an onside kick.

But even then, Austin Seibert’s onside kick went straight into the arms of Cowboys’ safety Juanyeh Thomas before even it crossed the 10-yard line. He ran at full speed to score a touchdown to ice a bizarre 34-26 win for the Dallas Cowboys. For the Commanders, though, this embarrassing loss could lead to a lot of uncomfortable conversations.
