There is no doubt that Jaylen Brown is coming off an incredible 2025-26 campaign in the NBA. However, reports emerged last week that the Boston Celtics had included him in a trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

While the move did not take place, it did strain the relationship between Brown and the Celtics. It was the second time Brown was included in a trade package. The last time it happened when the Celtics offered their star player to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant in 2022.

In one of the biggest trades in the offseason, Brown got traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks on Wednesday. Following the trade, his rant on Joel Embiid flopping and playing style has resurfaced across social media.

This is my personal opinion on basketball, some of y’all may disagree. Flopping has ruined our game. Joel Embiid is a great player. One of the best bigs in basketball history. Flops. He know it, this ain’t breaking news. It is what it is. That’s just my opinion.

Jaylen Brown is well known for never mincing his words. He is vocal about the flopping and poor officiating that has been a concern in today’s NBA. After losing to the 76ers in Game 7 of the first round this year, Brown called out Joel Embiid for flopping and getting calls in his post-match press conference.

It is unfortunate to see Brown’s time come to an end in Boston. He was drafted by the Celtics as the number three pick in the 2016 NBA draft and was hopeful of staying in Boston for the next 10 years if it were up to him.

Alongside Jayson Tatum, he formed one of the best duos in the NBA. The star player led the Celtics to their first championship in 16 years in 2024 and was named as the Finals MVP.

Philadelphia 76ers have a superteam with Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown

There were a lot of expectations surrounding the 76ers this year. Joel Embiid leading the way with Tyrese Maxey playing at an elite level, and having Paul George as their third option, many saw them as a dark horse in the Eastern Conference despite finishing at seventh place in the standings in the regular season.

Injuries took a toll on Embiid last season as it always has. After going 3-1 down to the Celtics in the first round, the 76ers pulled off a comeback to win the series in seven games. It was a performance that led many to believe that 76ers’ time had finally come.

Unfortunately, they were humbled by eventual champions New York Knicks as they were eliminated in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The loss hurt a lot more as they were clean swept by the Knicks. Hence, changes were needed.

By acquiring Jaylen Brown, the 76ers have potentially one of the best starting 5 in the NBA. Barring any injuries, a team of Embiid, Brown and Maxey will fancy their chances of having a deep postseason run next year.

Celtics believes Derick White had a better season than Jaylen Brown

Jaylen Brown was ranked sixth in the MVP voting for his performances last season. With Jayson Tatum missing most of the season due to injury, there weren’t much hopes on the Celtics. But Brown had other ideas as he led the Celtics to a second place finish in the Eastern Conference standings with a 56-26 record.

While Brown received a lot of praise for his impact last season, the Celtics saw it differently. NBA Insider Brian Windhorst revealed that the club believed Derrick White had a better season than the former Finals MVP.

Even though Jaylen Brown was talking about himself for MVP, the Celtics did not feel like Jaylen had the best season on their team… They felt that Derrick White had a better season.

With no disrespect to White, many fans were surprised to see the Celtics rate his season better than Brown’s. The forward averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 71 appearances.

He was undoubtedly the best player for the Celtics and was one of the best two-way players in the league as well. As such, it remains to be seen if Derrick White can smoothly replace Brown in the upcoming season.
