“His girl is probably watching…” Jaylen Brown patronizes Myles Turner after scuffle during Game 4
Jaylen Brown was at the epicenter of the two skirmishes that happened in Monday's Game 4 of ECF.
Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown downplayed scuffle he had with Indiana Pacers star Myles Turner in Eastern Conference Finals
On Monday, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics were looking to finish Game 4 and wrap up the Eastern Conference Finals. On the other hand, the Indiana Pacers were looking to buy some time and at least get one win.
Naturally, this competitiveness leads to someone taking it too far. Myles Turner did that and got into an altercation with Brown. However, Brown later played down the issue.
Myles is a good kid. Let's start with that. Throughout the series, he kinda loses control of his body a little bit, likes to throw his body around. And we got the offensive foul. I was just letting him know, 'Just watch it.' Emotions is fine. He feels like he's at home, his family is watching. His girl is probably watching, and he had to do something. I've known Myles a long time, we good friends. So, it's all love.Jaylen Brown said while speaking at the post-game press conference
The Boston Celtics superstar wanted to downplay the incident as they are friends. But it also showed that managing one’s emotions is extremely important when battling in a crucial game.
Myles Turner used his body to bump Derrick White hard, sending him crashing onto the floor. Seeing this, Jaylen Brown came over and gave a light push to the Indiana Pacers center. In return, Turner then shoved Brown sending him out of bounds.
Then the rest of the players on the court tried to stop the scuffle with Turner sending out a lot of choice words to Brown. The Celtics superstar felt that Turner wanted to make a statement. Which according to him was fine as their season was on the line.
Jaylen Brown ended up hitting TJ McConnell in the face
Along with this scuffle with Myles Turner, Jaylen Brown was involved in another moment of extreme physical contact later in the game. In a mission to grab a rebound, TJ McConnell drove to the inside at full speed. Brown who also tracked the ball, tried to grab it. However, his outstretched arm caught the Pacers guard in the face.
The foul was deemed a common one as he did not see McConnell flying in. However, the star guard was lying on the floor grimacing in pain. Eventually, the two got up and continued playing. When Brown was asked about the incident, he again downplayed it by saying that he was not aware that the Pacers guard was coming in hot.
He did say that he has tremendous respect for TJ McConnell and would never have done something like that on purpose. Now with these incidents behind them, the superstar will now rest and look forward to the NBA Finals.
