Team USA’s men’s basketball team began their gold medal defense with a convincing 110-84 win over Serbia, led by Kevin Durant’s impressive debut and LeBron James‘ dominant performance. Despite the expected victory, the surprise of the game was Jayson Tatum’s zero playing time. 

The Boston Celtics superstar, fresh off his best season and first NBA title, did not see a single minute of action. Theories began to swirl about Tatum’s benching, including a possible illness, but he confirmed after the game that he was feeling fine. 

However, Coach Steve Kerr simply chose to go with a different lineup, a decision that raised eyebrows given Tatum’s recent form.
