By now, one would guess that Jerry Jones and the national media in general have stopped revisiting the Micah Parsons trade to the Green Bay Packers, considering half a season has passed since the monumental move. And yet, NFL sports shows keep digging up old skeletons even to this day, mostly because the Dallas Cowboys are in the doldrums while Parsons is having a blast in Wisconsin.
As NBA legend turned pundit Charles Barkley recently highlighted, “[We] are contractually obligated to talk about the Cowboys every day, even though the defense can’t stop a bloody nose.“
Media houses are well aware that any morsel of information about Jerry Jones and the Cowboys sells like hot cakes. So, it’s beneficial for them to link Parsons’ trade while discussing the Cowboys. And who better to ask Jones these questions than the biggest anti-Cowboy, Stephen A. Smith?
Smith invited his good friend Jerry Jones to an episode of the SiriusXM NFL Radio show before the Cowboys’ week 9 game against the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium. The veteran ESPN contributor gradually sneaked Parsons into the conversation.
As fans may remember, Parsons missed off-season training sessions and preseason games as he awaited a contract extension. Jones declined to accept his demand because he did not want to include Parsons’ agent in the deal. A few days before week one of football, Jones shocked the entire football world by trading the All-Pro pass rusher to the Packers.
Jones disclosed one particular reason behind his decision to go through with the trade. He was displeased with Parsons’ behavior when he lay down on the training table. This action by Parsons rubbed Jones the wrong way.
Not one time, not even in the hottest of two-a-days in August in Texas… I never seen either one of these two go over and lie on a damn training table in front of a million people.

Jones did not end his grievance there. He even questioned the Penn State graduate’s leadership qualities on and off the field.
To anoint him in terms of [being captain of the defense], and everybody else looking at him, you better [do] some thinking.
Jerry Jones watched his Cowboys team crumble in front of the Cardinals on Monday Night Football
The night was still young in Dallas as the Cowboys still had to face a Cardinals team that had won four of the last five meetings between them. Despite recent history, the Cowboys began the tie as the favorites, but fell behind to an early Chad Ryland three-pointer, followed by a touchdown from Marvin Harrison Jr.

The Cowboys caught a lucky break when Marshawn Kneeland scored on a blocked Cardinals punt. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott struggled to replicate his early-season form during the game. He did throw one touchdown pass to WR Ryan Flournoy, but the Cardinals’ defense forced a turnover out of him late in the fourth quarter to seal a victory. The game ended in a 27-17 win for the NFC West franchise.
With that defeat, Jerry’s Cowboys are 3-5-1 heading into their bye week. Meanwhile, the Packers are 5-2-1 despite the recent loss to the Carolina Panthers. Parsons is having a solid season with 20 total tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks in eight starts.
