Micah Parsons can forget about receiving a hero’s welcome when he steps foot inside the AT&T Stadium in week 4. Jerry Jones has no intention of arranging a video tribute or any other homage for his former favorite.

Parsons joined the Green Bay Packers after Jones agreed to honor his trade plea. The Dallas Cowboys received multiple high draft picks and DT Kenny Clark in return.

Days after the trade, the Cowboys played and lost against the Philadelphia Eagles on opening day, took overtime to beat the New York Giants, and suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the previously winless Chicago Bears.

Clark’s 73.7 PFF score in the first few weeks reeks of average outings. Parson’s absence in the defense is noticeable.

The former first-round pick wrecked games from day one, reeling in All-Pro honors. Without him, the Cowboys’ defense is in shambles.

A player like Parsons deserves a tribute for his contributions. However, the Cowboys’ veteran owner views the situation differently.

I don’t think that’s appropriate this way. Emmitt [Smith returning to Dallas] was a different story. But that’s not to diminish Micah. I think Micah’s got enough welcome out there. We just need to show we’ve got antidotes for that.

Parsons dreamed of becoming the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. History was on his side. A year earlier, he witnessed his teammates, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, agree to massive paydays by signing new contracts.

Jones shared the same vision. However, he wanted to deal with Parsons directly by bypassing his agent. Parsons disliked Jones’ approach and accepted a four-year, $188 million deal with a $136 million guaranteed deal at Green Bay.

Jerry Jones’ announcement about Micah Parsons’ tribute leaves the internet divided

Three weeks into the new season, the Packers sit third in allowing an NFL-low 14.7 points per game. Parsons’ impact on the Packers’ defense is obvious. His five tackles and 1.5 sacks helped the NFC North team to a 2-1 start.

The Packers’ next opponents are the Cowboys. It will mark a swift return for Parsons, just one month removed from his departure from Arlington. However, he should refrain from getting his hopes up about receiving a tribute from the Cowboys because it doesn’t fall into Jones’s to-do list.

The Cowboys-Packers fixture is a staple of the NFC. Since the first meeting in 1960, these two heavyweights have locked horns 39 times, with the Packers leading 22-17.

Furthermore, the Packers are on a five-game win streak, dating back to January 2017. In the 2023 wild-card game, the Packers won with a 48-32 scoreline in Dallas.

The Packers are predicted to continue that streak to six wins. They are 6.5-point favorites to defeat the Cowboys.
