Jessica Andrade will fight Valentina Shevchenko for the title, says coach Gilliard Parana

Jessica Andrade, the Brazilian pro-MMA fighter wouldn’t be waiting too long before she fights for the UFC flyweight title. Jessica recently switched weight divisions and is off to a “flying start”. The former strawweight champion decided to move to flyweight division after two consecutive losses in the strawweight division. Jessica lost her strawweight belt to Weili Zhang.

The “Bate-Estaca” had a successful debut in the flyweight. She beat the top contender, Katlyn Chookagian, and came out as the number-one athlete in that weight class.

Recently, in an interview with Ag Fight, Jessica’s coach, Gilliard Parana, claimed that his starfighter will be fighting Valentina Shevchenko. Valentina is the current UFC women’s Flyweight champion. The champ has an amazing record of 19-3-0. Shevchenko is coming off an incredible 6 consecutive wins in the flyweight class.

He said that this fight was offered to them in December. Jessica’s team couldn’t accept this offer due to such short notice. “The fight was offered to us in December, but the notice was too short.”

Gilliard also said, “Jessica had just fought, she had some family and spiritual problems to resolve. They got in touch with us about this Valentina fight in December and then once again after that. We’ve talked about it two or three times. We’re just waiting for a date that’s good for us and the promotion.”

Jessica will fight again around April or May says, coach Gilliard.

“We’re studying to see if there will be a chance to make this fight happen soon. Jessica’s next fight should be against Valentina, I’m almost 100% sure. If that doesn’t happen, though, we’ll fight anyone, like always. We asked the UFC to fight in March or April. So somewhere around March, April or May, we will see Jessica fight again, for sure.”

If this fight happens it will be the best opportunity for Jessica to grab hold of the flyweight belt.
