Jessica Pegula Can’t Believe Taylor Swift Married ‘Jock Football Player’ Travis Kelce as Friend Jokes ‘She Had 20 Exes or Something’

Now that Wimbledon is done and dusted, players are enjoying some much-needed downtime. They will soon start gearing up for the North American hardcourt swing.

In the grass-court Major, Jessica Pegula played in the quarterfinals for the second time, but her run ended at the hands of countrywoman Coco Gauff. The 32-year-old, as expected, joined her fellow WTA aces, Madison Keys, Jennifer Brady, and Desirae Krawczyk for their The Player’s Box podcast.

In the pop culture segment, they discussed the story that has been on the news since last month: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s extravagant wedding on July 3 at Madison Square Garden (MSG) in Manhattan, New York City.

Pegula is not a Swiftie, but Krawczyk is. Krawczyk didn’t believe that the I Can Do It With a Broken Heart singer chose to marry at the MSG, as her theory was that Swift was only diverting everyone there and marrying somewhere else. Pegula, too, shared the same opinion.

I can’t believe they got married. Like, they actually are married. Isn’t that wild when they first started dating, like whatever four years ago? I didn’t think it was going to happen. […] She was also dating like a very famous player on like the best team at the time. Like they won the Super Bowl, right, the first year they started dating. It was just like it was wild. And I can’t believe, I just can’t believe they’re actually married. That’s so crazy. She ended up marrying the jock football player after all. So funny.

The singer of The Fate of Ophelia started dating the three-time Super Bowl champion in 2023, and they got engaged in August 2025. As per reports, more than 1000 guests were invited to MSG. Their highly private wedding was confirmed by her publicist, Tree Paine. Also, a digital billboard outside MSG displayed this message: “JUST&T MARRIED!“

Jessica Pegula is a fan of the Wimbledon Centre Court player entrance. Even though her run ended in disappointment with a three-set defeat to Coco Gauff, she liked the experience of playing on Centre Court for the first time in her career.

On the famous Centre Court, players’ names are not announced. When the door is opened, the two players walk onto the court together.

I thought it was so cool how they don’t announce and you just walk out onto this really pretty grass court, and everyone starts cheering. I am thinking it would be a cool picture of me and Coco walking out at the same time.

Pegula is next set to play the Citi Open, the main draw of which will start on July 27. Last year in Washington, she suffered an opening-round exit.

Then in Montreal and Cincinnati, the 2024 US Open finalist lost in the third round both times. In the New York Major, Pegula reached the semifinals, only to lose to eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka, who beat Amanda Anisimova to defend her title.
