Mike McCarthy remains without a job after he and the Dallas Cowboys mutually agreed to go their separate ways. Several teams were put on high alert following the news and even set up interviews to possibly appoint him as their head coach.
McCarthy received endorsement from his former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. The veteran is in the same boat as McCarthy, even though the New York Jets haven’t officially cut him from the team. In Thursday’s episode of the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers praised McCarthy for his work with an injury-hit Cowboys squad.
Several Cowboys players were in shock to hear about McCarthy leaving his post. Star linebacker Micah Parsons claimed it was devastating news for him. Rodgers who won a Super Bowl with McCarthy revealed he can understand the sentiment.

This wasn’t the first time Rodgers praised McCarthy. In a November episode of McAfee’s show, he confided his fondness for McCarthy.
Could the New York Jets appoint Mike McCarthy as head coach?
The Jets are actively searching for their next head coach. After firing Robert Saleh midway through the season, Jeff Ulbrich took over the role on an interim basis and finished the campaign with a 5-12 record.
There’s doubt surrounding whether Ulbrich is the right man for the job, even though owner Woody Johnson and Jets President Hymie Elahi interviewed him recently. Several others are in line for a chance to coach one of the best rosters in the league, comprising Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Braelon Allen, and Quincy Williams.

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn leads the race for the time being. That baffling part about the entire ordeal is that the Jets haven’t set up a meeting with McCarthy. The Cowboys took a lot of time to let him go, but the Jets should pounce on the chance to reunite Rodgers with his former coach.
McCarthy, in the meantime, interviewed for the Chicago Bears job. However, a team that is more ready to win a major trophy next season is the Jets.
