For the past few months, there have been debates about who will disrupt Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner‘s dominance on tour. Former World No.1 Jim Courier has dubbed Jack Draper as the player to challenge the two top stars’ dominance on tour, which will eventually create another Big 3 rivalry in the men’s circuit.
For the past two years, Alcaraz and Sinner have dominated the men’s, winning the last eight Grand Slams between them. Their rivalry this season has taken a new shape with Alcaraz and Sinner facing each other in three of the four Grand Slam finals and also facing each other in six championship matches.
Alcaraz has been dominant when it comes to his rivalry with Sinner and leads 10-6 in their head-to-head record on tour. The last time they met was at the ATP Finals in Turin, where Sinner produced an excellent performance to overcome the Spaniard for just the second time on tour this season.
However, Alcaraz ended the year as the World No.1 for the first time since 2022. The 2025 season was his best on the court as he claimed the French Open, US Open, Italian Open, Monte Carlo Masters, and Cincinnati Open. He also reached eleven tournament finals, more than any player on tour.
In the past few months, debate on whether and when any player could challenge Alcaraz and Sinner has continued on tour. Jim Courier revealed during a conversation on Tennis Channel that British No.1 Draper will be the player to do that. The former World No.1 then pointed out that Draper’s lethal weapon is still very potent despite injuries:
I’m going to put my money down on Jack Draper. If he’s healthy as he’s shown us at Indian Wells, he can play with the big boys. He’s got big weapons with his leftie serve, his forehand is massive, he just needs health. His arm went out on him after Wimbledon this year. Had a bone bruise stress fracture, haven’t seen enough of him, but it sounds like from listening to some podcasts with him it seems like he’s going to be back and ready to go for some exhibition.
Draper has not played a tour-level match since August after a first-round win at the US Open. The British star sustained a bone bruise during the Wimbledon Championships, which he has yet to fully recover from.
Carlos Alcaraz breaks down the way he hopes the 2026 season goes after an impressive 2025
Carlos Alcaraz has been an unrelenting fighter on the court this season. Despite being out on two occasions due to injuries, he still won eight tour-level titles. He earned a mind-blowing 71-8 win-loss record on tour, the highest number of match wins in the men’s circuit this season, just above his arch-rival Jannik Sinner.

He finished the year in the best possible way by claiming the year-end World No.1 overcoming Sinner’s challenge. During an interview with Tennis Gazette, the 22-year-old revealed that he’s hoping to start the 2026 season on a positive note, while shedding light that a negative start could set an imbalance:
The good part of it is that it’s the first Grand Slam. I start the season playing a Grand Slam straight away, which could be tricky with not a lot of competition rhythm, but I’m going to do a really great pre-season to be ready for that, and obviously, having that record of being the youngest player to complete the Calendar Grand Slam, it is something that sticks in my mind.
Alcaraz is expected to begin his 2026 season at the Australian Open in Melbourne. He has done that for the past two seasons, preferring to play in exhibition tournaments during pre-season. Should he win the Grand Slam title in January, he will become the youngest man to complete a Career Grand Slam.
