Amidst reports of Lakers coaching job snub, JJ Redick gets huge praise from Knicks star Josh Hart
JJ Redick is more focused on the coming NBA Finals than coaching roles.

JJ Redick and Josh Hart
Former NBA player JJ Redick was in the run to be the Los Angeles Lakers’ new head coach. However, this did not materialize as the Lakers turned their attention towards UConn Huskies’ Dan Hurley. In the wake of all this, the New York Knicks’ Josh Hart praised Redick for his coaching despite him not securing the Lakers head coach role.
Hart claimed on the RoomMates Show alongside Knicks’ Jalen Brunson that Redick would be a great players’ coach. He also insisted that Redick would be successful as a head coach for any NBA team in the future.
He would be an amazing X's and O's coach. Hell be obviously a players coach, put guys in the right position to be successful. So he for sure will be a coach in the next couple of years.Josh Hart said on the RoomMates Show
On the sports side, Hart and the Knicks had a bittersweet season in the 2023-24 NBA season. The Knicks knocked out the Philadelphia 76ers in round 1 of the NBA Playoffs. In addition, the Knicks suffered a lot of injuries this season which hampered their season’s aspirations.
JJ Redick focused on NBA Finals rather than head coach roles
JJ Redick’s name has been linked with the Los Angeles Lakers head coach role in the past weeks. However, that seemed to change recently after the Lakers opted to go for Dan Hurley. Recently, Redick opened up on the head coach roles on the Gojo and Golic Podcast. Redick claimed that his focus is currently on the 2024 NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics.
I would say this, my focus right now is on calling the NBA Finals, I'm so fortunate that I'm in this position to call these Finals with Doris [Burke] and Mike [Breen]. My day-to-day right now is consumed with calling games, the 19 different podcasts I feel like I have [and] my obligations to all of our partners, so my focus is on the NBA Finals.JJ Redick said on the Gojo and Golic Podcast
Unbeknownst to many, Redick had given an interview for the Charlotte Hornets head coach position in April 2024. However, it did not seem to be successful for Redick. It remains to be seen now whether or not JJ Redick secures a head coaching job in the NBA in the coming months.
