UFC has recently announced that it will cut up to 60 fighters from the organization. This has sent many fighters into self preservation mode including  one Alessio Di Chirico. Di Chirico has not had many good fights recently. In Fact his last three fights have all ended in defeat. At this point he wanted to face someone who is new and popular on the circuit. In comes Joaquin Buckley. Joaquin Buckley  recorded a superb knockout victory over Impa Kasanganay, and that too with a spinning back kick. He got a lot of attention for that fight, and that particular kick went viral on the internet.

Alessio Di Chirico will face Joaquin Buckley this Saturday at UFC Fight Island 7 as the main card.

“I was super excited,” Di Chirico told MMA Fighting. “He’s a very good fighter and I’m really into fighting the best guys I can fight. You’re not into UFC for the easy fights.” Di Chirico is all excited for this fight and it treating it as an opportunity to make a statement.

He goes on to say that, “Oh man, I’m not impressed by his surge,” Di Chirico said. “He did an impressive KO so it’s right he went viral. I was disappointed and sorry for Impa. I knew him in Vegas and he was sweet. I’m sure he’ll be back. There was some genius behind that kick. Well done.”

Before he ended, Alessio Di Chirico admitted that he had watched Kevin Holland vs Joaquin Buckley. And even though Holland won the fight, Di Chirico wasn’t willing to give him much credit.

“Obviously I watched that fight [with Holland],” Di Chirico explained. “Joaquin had a very short notice. It’s fair to say that. But you know, I think he’s way much better than that clown known as Kevin Holland.”
