Joe Burrow’s post-game body language expressed a lot without saying much. He put up 356 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions but still lost 27-34 to the Los Angeles Chargers.
After trailing by over 20 points, Burrow instigated a third-quarter comeback and even equaled the score. However, as so often has been the case this season, the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense choked. They let the Chargers score the decisive touchdown with a few seconds left until the final whistle.
Burrow became the first player ever to lose back-to-back NFL games after throwing for more than 300 yards and multiple touchdowns and still lose. In the Week 10 fixture against the Baltimore Ravens, Burrow threw for 428 yards and four touchdowns, but the Bengals defense surrendered 35 points.
After 11 games, Burrow leads the league in several quarterback categories. He threw 274 passes for 3028 yards (67.2% completion rate), 27 touchdowns, and just four interceptions (106.9 quarterback rating). Yet, the Bengals have a 4-7 record.

The 27-year-old is playing at an MVP level, but his team constantly lets him down in every game. After the final whistle at SoFI Stadium in LA, cameras caught a dejected Burrow leaving the field, heading for the locker room.
Joe Burrow’s honest opinion about the Bengals’ loss to the Chargers
Reporters wanted to speak with Burrow about his opinion on the consecutive losses. He did not mince any words.
The Bengals enter bye week and will have two weeks to sort the issues in the backfield out before facing the Dallas Cowboys. There’s still a slither of hope for securing a playoff spot.
Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who leads the league with 73 receptions for 1056 yards and 12 touchdowns, wasn’t as subtle as Burrow when discussing the defeat. Chase went straight for the coaching staff, calling out their inability to contain the score.
It will be tough for the Bengals to play football beyond January. They still have to face the Pittsburgh Steelers, the AFC North leaders, twice.
