Jon Jones is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters in UFC history, having dominated both the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions. His incredible skill set and dominance inside the octagon have earned him a massive fan base. Interestingly, Jones is also a passionate supporter of the newly elected President Donald Trump, which was revealed at UFC 309.

At UFC 309, Trump attended the event after winning the election and witnessed Jon Jones dominate his opponent inside the octagon. Following his victory, Jones paid tribute to Trump by performing the President’s signature dance in front of an excited crowd. In a recent interview, BJJ expert Gordon Ryan revealed that Jones had meticulously planned the celebration.

For 15-20 minutes, he’s getting ready to go out and probably 20 minutes of that warmup was him just practicing the mechanics on how to do the Trump dance right. We’re like, ‘No, the hands has to be a little higher, a little bit lower.’ So we were coaching him through it as he was doing it.

Ryan and Jones share a close friendship, regularly training together to sharpen their grappling skills and elevate each other’s ground game. During the fight, Ryan was in Jones’s corner, witnessing the GOAT dismantle Stipe Miocic with a devastating TKO. However, ‘Bones’ remained focused on Trump, immediately approaching the newly elected President after securing his dominant victory.

Jones has publicly expressed admiration for President Trump. After his victory, he also gave a shout-out and mentioned that he’s proud to be a great American champion. He also attended Trump’s inauguration and was happy to get an invite while representing the UFC. Additionally, Jones appreciated Trump’s acknowledgment of him being one of the greatest of all time.

Joe Rogan believes Jon Jones is the greatest of all time

Jon Jones is regarded as the perfect specimen to be the greatest fighter of all time. His speed, height, reach and athleticism added to his lethality inside the octagon. He holds the record for most title defenses in light heavyweight history, showcasing his dominance over multiple generations of fighters.

Jones became the youngest UFC champion ever at just 23 years old, a record that still stands today in history. While many consider him the greatest of all time, some critics argue against his GOAT status due to controversies. However, Joe Rogan has consistently defended Jones, offering strong reasoning to support his legendary status.

He has been a world champion for 14 years. That is unheard of. I think on paper, for sure. The problem with that is who did he fight vs. who did Georges St-Pierre fight. Who did Khabib (Nurmagomedov) fight vs. who did Georges St-Pierre fight. Who did ‘Mighty Mouse’ fight? Who did Anderson Silva fight? Out of just the sheer longevity and the accomplishments, I say Jon Jones.

Jones is currently on the wrong side of fight fans due to the constant delay with the Tom Aspinall fight. ‘Bones’ has been avoiding the fight for a year and wants a hefty fight purse to sign the contract. This back-and-forth has further affected Jones’s reputation to be a top competitor.

Jon Jones in comparison with other UFC GOATS

Jon Jones‘ legacy is often compared to the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre. Jones is the most dominant, holding titles in two divisions and beating some of the dangerous legends. However, controversies and failed drug tests cloud his legacy. Nurmagomedov retired undefeated, but had fewer title defenses. This makes his dominance brief yet flawless.

GSP, a two-division champion, was a consummate professional with the most well-rounded skill set. While Nurmagomedov is admired for his perfect record and GSP for his discipline and sportsmanship, Jones is often considered the most skilled and dominant fighter in UFC history. All the title fight wins is what separates him from other GOAT candidates.
