Israel Adesanya stepped in as the slight favorite against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305. However, the former middleweight champion could not step up to the plate as Du Plessis walked away with the victory. UFC commentator Joe Rogan had a vivid reaction to Adesanya losing the fight. Here is what happened:

Joe Rogan was not present at UFC 305. He was replaced by Dominick Cruz on the commentary team for this event. Instead, the podcaster did a live Fight Companion episode joined by Brian Simpson, Tony Hinchcliffe, and Brendan Schaub. He had an interesting reaction to the South African champion beating ‘The Last Stylebender’.

Oh my God. Dricus is a f****** animal dude. He's a f****** animal.

The fight was highly competitive. In the early rounds, Adesanya had the edge with his striking, but Dricus Du Plessis found success with powerful right hands and grappling exchanges. By the fourth round, Du Plessis landed a heavy combination that dropped Adesanya, allowing him to take the former champion’s back and secure the submission.

He secured a rear naked choke and successfully retained his middleweight title. Rogan said Adesanya could not afford to get caught in those exchanges, which ultimately cost him the fight. Meanwhile, Brian Simpson commented saying it felt like “America lost a war,” which is ironic because neither Adesanya nor Du Plessis is American. However, the fans understood his sentiments.

Joe Rogan is being accused of biases toward Israel Adesanya

Joe Rogan has faced criticism for alleged bias toward Israel Adesanya, especially during certain UFC events. The controversy gained attention when some fans and fighters claimed that Rogan showed favoritism toward Adesanya, particularly during his fight against Jan Błachowicz at UFC 259.

Critics argued that Rogan and other commentators downplayed Adesanya’s shortcomings in that bout. Now, he is facing the same accusations after his reaction to Adesanya’s loss at UFC 305. Fans on social media took to the comment section to share their reactions to X:

People had some interesting things to say regarding the commentary. Many accused Rogan and company of “biased” commentary as a result of lost bet money. Others, criticized Rogan saying he was still in debt to Adesanya for backing him up during his controversial period last year.

Notably, Rogan had already shown interest in Adesanya, reaching out to him during his kickboxing days. Nonetheless, others defended the UFC commentator saying that everybody has favorites and he was not on the commentary booth so it did not matter.
