“That’s f**king unacceptable!” Joel Embiid GOES OFF on referees in playoffs as Knicks go 2-0

Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid calls out referees for not calling timeout and fouls as New York Knicks take 2-0 lead in playoffs

Losing the game in 45 seconds from a probable place of victory is already enough of a of a mental beating any player can take. But what if they saw things in those 45 seconds that they feel could have helped the game go their way? Joel Embiid certainly feels that after he called out the referees.

As per him, their no-calls helped the New York Knicks take a 2-0 lead in the playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Everybody on the floor was trying to call a timeout, myself included, Nico, coach on the sideline. But they didn't give it to us. But you know, forget about a timeout. There’s a bunch of fouls. Like I said, that’s f*cking unacceptable.
Joel Embiid said to the reporters in the locker room after the game

Embiid suggested that even though he, Nicolas Batum, and their head coach, Nick Nurse, were calling for a timeout, the referees did not award one. Had a timeout been called at that moment, the 76ers could regroup and make adjustments to their game.

The MVP also said that the referees did not call fouls on a few of the plays in the final minutes of the game. Suggesting that the officiating left a lot to be desired for the visiting team. Had the Philadelphia 76ers gotten those calls, it is possible the game’s result could have been different.

A lot of hustle and two clutch plays in the final seconds gave the New York Knicks the win. The timeout call Embiid and his head coach were trying to call was during those final plays. His frustration is understandable considering he was on the losing side.

Joel Embiid has to turn around the 0-2 hole they are in

However the officiating may be, Joel Embiid and his Philadelphia 76ers now face an uphill task to turn this playoff series around. Going home after being beaten twice in a row is not the best position a player of his ability should be in. However, now he has to take on the burden and lead his team back into contention.

Almost all analysts and fans will not remember his knee injury if they end up exiting the playoffs. Instead, everyone will blame the best-scoring big man in the game. Therefore, he has to figure out how to produce more while on the court. The 76ers have to take all the encouragement from a decent outing on the road.

They have to rest, study the film, and make changes to their game plan so that they can win the next game or two at home. Else Joel Embiid will not have anyone else left to blame. He cannot lose another playoff year.
