The 2026 NASCAR Cup season it set mark the start of a new chapter for the sport, as new playoffs format will be introduced. It came after years demand from the racing community to have a bigger sample size to crown a champion. Three times champion Joey Logano, who has been target of the critics over playoffs, shared his verdict on the potential coming.
On his appearance on Donut Media Joey Logano, who has actively been defending the current format, asserted that he liked the current system and insisted that he will have the same feeling about the new format that will be introduced in 2026. The only thing he is focusing on at the moment is figuring out ways to continue winning races in the elite division.
I liked where it was, but I’m gonna like where we go, too. I’m OK with whatever they do, just tell me the rules and then we gotta go figure out a way to win.
Joey Logano said via Donut Media.
He highlighted that his job isn’t criticising the playoffs format, it’s finding ways to thrive under the format given to him. The veteran insisted that he doesn’t care about NASCAR changing the format that made him the most accomplished active full-time racer in the grid.
It’s not my job to complain about what we have or what we’re gonna have. My job is to say ‘OK, this is the rules, let’s figure out the strategy to win this thing. Like, how do we do that.’ I don’t really care what it is, just tell me what it is so then we can focus on doing that.
Joey Logano added.
The further pointed out that, regardless of the format the championship will be credible, considering everyone is going have the same opportunity as well as the same rules. He has used the same point multiple times to defend the current format.
The bottom line is it’ll be the same for everybody. No matter what they come up with, everybody’s gonna have the same opportunity to go out there and win a championship, and we’ll have to just try and do it again.
Joey Logano asserted.

The Ford driver shared his thoughts on the concern in a video shared on X, asserting he is perfectly healthy.

I got a bunch of text messages and DMs lately about my new haircut. And a lot of people are concerned if I was okay. First off, I appreciate everyone asking if I was okay. I am fine, I am perfectly healthy. Just wanted to get a haircut at the end of the season.
Joey Logano said.
The veteran confirmed that he has been suffering from alopecia for many years, and that’s why his shaved head is looking concerning. He appreciated everyone for the messages and admitted that he didn’t think it was going be a big story.

I have alopecia. I’ve had it for a long time now. So, when we were cutting it, it was all flared up, and so it’s all spotty, and so kept cutting it. Now I got a new do. I’m good, like I said. Appreciate everyone caring. Didn’t think it would be this big of a story, but after getting so many text messages, I felt like I probably should let everyone know I’m alright.
Joey Logano asserted.
The comments confirm the veteran is a good spot, healthy and is determined to get back to championship winning ways, as he had disappointing title défense this season. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver under the new format.
