NASCAR marked it’s return to Iowa Speedway last week hosting a Xfinity Series race and the first ever Cup race in the track’s history. It was an impressive race that saw defending champion Ryan Blaney of Team Penske racing securing his first win of the season, while also creating history, and securing his place in the playoffs.
One of the major discussion points coming into the race weekend was the partial repave that was done to the track. It has some affects in the racing as it limited the race from being a three-lane battle to two and half lane battle. But fortunately, it wasn’t as bad as some predicted the repave to be factor in the race.
Should Iowa repave the rest of the track (assuming Cup comes back next year)? Some thoughts from Blaney, Hamlin and Logano: pic.twitter.com/IWTUa4WfWE

Two times NASCAR Cup Series champion and Ryan Blaney’s teammate Joey Logano made a hilarious observation about it. He joked that NASCAR might have had ran out of money while repaving the track, hence it wasn’t fully paved.
It’s kind of like, I don’t know, it looks like they ran out of money. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know the story or what happened, but I felt like, what’s two more lanes? I don’t know.Joey Logano told Fox Sports.
Joey Logano urges NASCAR to repave the track before 2025 race
The veteran driver, before making the joke, had pointed out that it would be better for the sport to repave the trac. He asserted that the partial repaves never made the track wide enough to make racing better there.
I mean, I would — I think it would be better, if they re-paved the rest of it. Because at no point does the track have more than two-and-a-half lanes, three lanes. Like, it’ll never be wider, the way it is, ever, ever.Joey Logano said.
The future Hall of Famer pointed out that it isn’t necessary to pave the whole track, as they can leave the straightway alone and repave the corners equally. It would be interesting to see how NASCAR would approach the repaving drama next-year.
