The 2025 NASCAR Cup season opener, The Clash, marked the return of Bowman Gray Stadium to the elite stock car racing scene after over 50 years absence. It was successful event with balanced level of drama on the track, good short track racing, a passionate crowd and fan favorite Chase Elliott winning the event.
Following the successful race, conversations around the future of the event started with some wanting NASCAR to return to the track in 20265 while other wants a different venue to host the race. Defending Cup champion Joey Logano isn’t fully behind a return, as he wants the sport to go to new places and attract more fans.
He backed his argument by highlighting how NASCAR has been adding new tracks to the schedule over the last few seasons and pointed out that how most of those events were successful. Logano feels moving races around would help to avoid the whole race expercing eventually getting stale.
Joey Logano highlights the race fandom at Winston-Salem
Earlier while talking about his experience, Joey Logano pointed out that the track was packed and how the fans were there because of their true passion for racing, not because of the Cup star power. He was really impressed with the whole energy and the special feel he got from the track.
The comments from Joey Logano offers valid arguments in favor as well as against hosting The Clash at the Bowman Gray Stadium in the future. It would be interesting to see where NASCAR would host the event next-season, with racing at least one more year at Bowman Gary seems to be the best decision before making any changes.
