Connor Zilisch is arguably the most talented stock car racing prodigy at the moment and so far, has been on the right track to eventually become a NASCAR champion. He proved his worth yet again last week at Watkins Glen in the Xfinity Series, as he won the race in the No:88 JR Motorsports Chevy, on his debut.

It was the first win in a long-time for the No:88 Chevy and there will be more wins to celebrate for Dale Earnhardt Jr. as the young Connor Zilisch will drive for them full-time next season. But his impressive performance might hurt him as well, if it makes Trackhouse to fast track his promotion, according to two times Cup champion Joey Logano, who made Cup debut when he was 18.

The road course is just one piece of the puzzle…I think it's important for Connor to be able to get his time in racing in Xfinity and not get thrown in there too quickly to where it damages him.
Joey Logano said via SiriusXMNASCAR.

The veteran has a solid point considering all the hardship he endured in his first few seasons at Joe Gibbs Racing before finding his footing. He also highlighted the fact that Zilisch has to work on his oval racing prowess and added that he doesn’t think the youngster is currently a good enough road course racer to be in contention for wins in RC Cup races.

I think if you put him in a cup car on a road course, he’s going to be fine. I don’t think it even like he’d be up there in contention right off the bat.
Joey Logano added.

Joey Logano explains how significant the jump is from Cup series

In the same discussion, Logano explained how much does the racing standard changes from Xfinity to the Cup Series. He pointed out that Xfinity to Cup is one of the biggest jumps in Motorsports from a NASCAR perspective as there is a massive gap in lower levels and the premier division.

I say it all the time, the Cup level, from the Xfinity level, is the biggest jump in motorsports you will make, at least going up through like the NASCAR ranks and how you come up, right, late models, to trucks, to Xfinity, you know, to Cup, that’s the biggest one.
Joey Logano said.

The points made by Joey Logano, which comes from experience, does make a lot of sense and is something Trackhouse Racing should be beware of. It will be interesting to see how the team would approach the career of Zilisch.
