Jofra Archer to undergo surgery on bowling arm

Jofra Archer in action
England pacer Jofra Archer is all set to undergo a surgery on his right arm. The decision has been taken following scans and expert consultancy. It is important to note that this this is not the injury which ruled him out of the ODI series against India.
The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed that Archer suffered a cut to his hand while cleaning at his home. ECB clarified that the injury occurred shortly before flying to India for the Test series in January. The governing body further clarified that their medical team monitored it throughout the tour and it “did not impact his availability”.
“Further investigation and a specialist opinion was sought upon his return to the UK and, in conjunction with the ECB medical panel, it has been decided that surgery is the best option to manage his injury in the longer term,” the ECB further said in a release. “Further detail will be provided in due course.“
Jofra Archer’s future in IPL 2021

Earlier reports suggested that Jofra Archer might be unavailable for the early stages of the Indian Premier League 2021. A surgery now has only complicated the issue for Archer and Rajasthan Royals. The Englishman is the Royals’ most prized weapon and his absence will have a dramatic impact on their performance.
With the T20 World Cup and packed schedule thereafter, England will be keen on keeping their lead pacer in fine shape. Their plans for the year includes Tests against New Zealand and India at home this summer along with the T20 WC in India. They will also play an Ashes series in Australia towards the end of the year. This might see Archer missing the whole of the IPL.
