The anticipation just keeps growing for the impending premiere of WWE Raw on Netflix. Beginning January 2025, the red brand will foray into the subscription-based streaming service, scrapping a 31-year-old streak on linear television. Its debut episode is expected to be a legendary rendezvous of larger-than-life personalities, including John Cena. And if there was any skepticism about the Peacemaker star’s availability for the show, he just quashed it.

In a chat with Complex, the 16-time World Champion confirmed that he’ll be there for the grand opening. He also spilled the beans on the expected date for Raw’s debut on Netflix, saying it’s January 6. However, John Cena advised against quoting him on that one. Continuing further, he affirmed that it’d be a history-making day for WWE.

While Cena is the first name to confirm his presence, he’s not the only one in the mix. In fact, there’s heavy speculation among fans that The Rock will also grace the occasion. Dave Meltzer recently touched on it, saying he expects The Great One to be there as well. What else can one ask for? Maybe the leeway would go hand-in-hand with Netflix loosening up the verbiage on Raw.

I can tell you I'll be there for the debut. I think it's 1/6. I'm not sure, I think so; don't quote me on that, but it's a history-making day for WWE.

Dominik Mysterio recently dove into fans’ expectations for what’s going to be the template when Raw finally makes the move. He elucidated that whatever over-the-top stuff is pegged to go down should be few and far between to make it seem special. Back to Cena: He’s already confirmed that January will mark the beginning of his retirement tour. He has 36 different dates around the globe for his last year as an active pro wrestler.

Randy Orton believes showdown with John Cena is in the cards

While John Cena is expected to have numerous matches as part of his retirement tour in 2025, he’s yet to know who he’ll be up against. The Cenation Leader has already stated that he’s not too keen on handpicking opponents.

However, that doesn’t mean there’s a paucity of challengers for him. Recently, one of Cena’s greatest rivals, Randy Orton, expressed his desire to face him one more time. In conversation with Cody Rhodes on What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Orton said he believes it’s in the cards.

However, he did mention that he’s going to let it play out organically. Apart from The Viper, Seth Rollins has also pre-registered himself for the hunt to lure Cena into wrestling him before he calls it a day.
