Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are so ahead in the competition that World No.3 Alexander Zverev trails more than 6000 points on the rankings table. Alcaraz finished the season as the No.1 player with 12,050 points, while second-placed Sinner holds 11,500 points.

Since 2024, the top two aces have secured 26 titles from 35 finals, including the last eight Grand Slam titles. Sinner, in fact, featured in all four Grand Slam finals this year, winning at the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and losing the French Open and the US Open, both to the six-time Grand Slam champion. They are dominating so much that former player John Lloyd is worried about monotony on the men’s tour.

I am a little bit concerned about next year. You always think that someone is going to come through and challenge, but at the moment I look at Slams — because that is the bread and butter of our sport — and I look at it and think if one of them at one of the majors, which will happen at one stage, gets injured or gets a day where someone plays lights out.

John Lloyd told Inside-In Tennis Podcast

Sinner and Alcaraz met six times this year, starting from the Italian Open, which the home favorite lost. Apart from Wimbledon, the four-time Grand Slam champion also defeated the Spaniard at the ATP Finals to defend his crown, as well as improve his head-to-head record over Alcaraz to 6-10.

You are going to have such a weak half of the draw in terms of names. You almost feel like you might as well give it to the other one right away. At the Slams, you want it to be competitive all the way through, but these two have just separated themselves. It’s amazing to watch how great they are.

John Lloyd added

Sinner is set to play an exhibition event in Incheon, South Korea, a few days before the 2026 Australian Open, the main draw of which is scheduled to start on January 18. He will lock horns with none other than Alcaraz.

Lorenzo Musetti shares three differences between him and Jannik Sinner

Lorenzo Musetti has made it clear that his on-court rivalry has never affected his off-court relationship with Jannik Sinner. During an interview with La Repubblica, Musetti talked about the main differences between him and his compatriot.

Different from me? Sure. More powerful, solid, consistent. But I don’t consider it a disadvantage to have been around the same time as him. Would I like to have some of his qualities? Yes, while fully respecting our differences. We’re on different yet parallel paths; we each mature at our own pace.

Although Musetti once again failed to win a title, he was successful in making his debut at the ATP Finals. Musetti played three finals this year. He first lost at the Monte Carlo Masters to Carlos Alcaraz, following which Alejandro Tabilo denied him the Ningbo Open.

To qualify for the ATP Finals, he signed up for the first edition of the Hellenic Championship but lost the title clash to Novak Djokovic. Because the 24-time Grand Slam champion skipped the ATP Finals once again, the 23-year-old arrived in Turin as his replacement.

Musetti last won a title at the 2022 Tennis Napoli Cup. Since then, he has lost six finals (three last year and three this year). But Sinner won the second-most titles this season, following Alcaraz, the winner of eight trophies from 11 finals. Sinner took home six titles from 10 finals. The ATP Finals win helped Sinner improve his winning streak on indoor hardcourts to 31 matches.
