There is some positive news for the San Francisco 49ers fans. General manager John Lynch claimed on Monday that he hopes Brandon Aiyuk will remain with the 49ers for years to come.
With the NFL Draft only three days away, Lynch discussed what the 49ers approach will be in Detroit. But before diving deep into the picks, Lynch made things clear about the Brandon Aiyuk situation.

I've communicated on many occasions; our wish is that he's [Brandon Aiyuk] here and part of the Niners for the rest of his career. We're working through that. I can say we're having good talks, and I'm just going to leave it at that.John Lynch said per ESPN.com
Both sides have been communicating, and the development is positive. Lynch wants the 26-year-old to play with the Reds his entire NFL career.
Keeping Brandon Aiyuk will be a tough task for Lynch
The biggest wall standing between the 49ers agreeing to Aiyuk’s terms is the salary cap. After all the movement in 2024 free agency, the 49ers are about $15 million over the 2025 cap. As a result, there’s no guarantee that the negotiations will go smoothly and they will reach an agreement.

Aiyuk recorded his best numbers last season. He had 75 catches for 1,342 yards and a 7-touchdown, which landed him as part of the Second Team All-Pro. So the Pro Bowler would want more than the $14.4 million he will earn in the fifth year of his contract with the 49ers.
In the past, several recipients have opted to move away after failing to secure their desired contract. One player that comes to mind is veteran Davante Adams, who left the Green Bay Packers seeking a blockbuster deal. Adams eventually signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, who gave the All-Pro playmaker a five-year, $140 million deal. He is currently the second-highest-paid receiver behind only the Dolphins Tyreek Hill.
However, Lynch seems to be confident they will be able to make Aiyuk happy. During Monday’s press conference, he highlighted that, unlike George Kittle and Deebo Samuel, they are aiming to wrap it up quickly and not drag it out too much.
Previously, Samuel revealed that his time away from the team affected his performance on the field. Lynch doesn’t want a repeat of the same scenario. If the 49ers fail to extend the Arizona State graduate’s demands, then there will be several franchises lining out the door to sign him.
