These past 18 months haven’t been great for John Mara. Problems with Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley leaving to the divisional rivals, and Giants fans demanding he fire everyone in the coaching team—these are just the tip of the iceberg in the hell hole called the New York Giants.

All of these problems popped up as on the aftermath of the Giants’ poor results, which has become their tagline in recent years. Although loyal New Yorkers want to see their team win games, they know that with the current state of things, keeping the team competitive is easier said than done.

Mara tried to instigate slight changes during the off-season by targeting a new quarterback from the loaded 2024 draft but instead opted to stick with Daniel Jones after general manager Joe Schoen decided to add more quality options around the $160 million man.

Despite that, before facing the Bengals on Sunday night, the Giants lost three games and sat bottom of the NFC East. In week 5, the Giants traveled to Settle to play against the Seahawks, and Mara walked out on the Lumen Field turf to get a feel for the game before kickoff.

Amused Seahawks fans made a pass at the veteran owner, who uno reversed it back at them with a boss move. John Mara pointed to the two Super Bowl rings on his fingers to remind them of the success the Giants have had during his tenure.

John Mara’s Giants haven’t improved at all

Fortunately for Mara, the Giants defeated the Seahawks as Daniel Jones lodged a rare two-touchdown game with a QBR rating of 117.16, and that too without #1 target Malik Nabers. Brian Daboll’s side took five games to secure two victories compared to last season when they had to wait until week 7.

A low-in-confidence the Cincinnati Bengals were next on their agenda. Although most analysts predicted Joe Burrow to secure their second win of the season, it was more than winnable for Mara and Co.

The game at MetLife Stadium started slow, eating away at the patience of the fans. It worsened when they allowed Burrow to scramble for a 47-yard rushing touchdown. They had to wait until the third quarter to cheer a touchdown from the Giants. Tyrone Tracy Jr., who started in place of Devin Singletary, bundled the ball in from a yard.

The joy was short-lived as Chase Brown’s 30-yard run in the late fourth quarter hit the final nail in the Giants’ coffin. It ended 17-7 as Daniel Jones tasted his 14th defeat on prime time since his NFL debut.

Regardless of the result, John Mara has previously stated that Daboll and Schoen’s position is safe for the remainder of the season. Jones will remain their starting quarterback barring a major injury.
