Jon Jones on the Brink of Cashing Out Biggest Paycheck in UFC History According to legend Michael Bisping
Michael Bisping puts forward an argument regarding the delay of the heavyweight PPV title unifier between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall.

The Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall UFC HW unification saga is stretched too far, and at the same time, a pile of hot sauce. As of Monday, 2 June 2025, after the wee hours (till 10:30), there are some 178,000 petition signatures on change.org to strip him of his title. However, Michael Bisping believes that this PPV title unifier is all but a done deal and the biggest bank to make!
Tom Aspinall’s gestures and emotives on this are all too palpable. After all, the UK native is now the longest-reigning UFC interim champ in active competition. He has also logged more ballot appearances than ‘Bones’ at this point at heavyweight, with a last PPV title defense ending in a first-round TKO at UFC 304.
However, reacting to his English compatriot’s state on his YT Channel, Michael Bisping shared some hot new tidbit on a possible Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall affair:
This is one of the most highly anticipated fights in all of UFC history, …You can’t just announce it, ‘Oh, the fight is going to happen’. No…a fight of this magnitude…they wanna have a press conference, they want the world’s media there. They don’t want someone on YouTube or whatever going, ‘Yeah, that fight’s happening’. This is the kind of fight that deserves that kind of attention. This is the fight the world is crying out for, and this is the fight that it seems that we are going to see.

Bisping thinks that with the UFC 317 PPV IFW Showcase rolling out, the brass needs another big event for such an offering. They can’t just announce it at any juncture. The UFC fan community remains unconvinced, given that Jones had had one foot out the door, scouting a legacy retirement. He also pointed out that Aspinall isn’t a big enough name to make a significant dent in his career if he wins.

Hence, no matter what Michael Bisping or others theorize, a PPV title unification is yet stalled, along with the state of the division. There were reports that Jones’ PPV monetary compensation and a six-month ask for camp were in play. However, there is no concrete report that this fight is happening from the UFC brass side of things, even though Dana White says this is the fight to make.
Jones has often said he is willing to step down from competition. But, such enthusiastic updates from the ‘Count’ and others come in light of something that Jackson’s MMA Acoma heavyweight said recently.
Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall delay to come to an end with hot new update for title unification bout
For his part, heavyweight champ Jon Jones has thrown out weird curveballs about title unification or retirement instead. Bones is fresh off a maiden defense of the 265-pound undisputed gold atop the UFC 309 PPV event headliner and hasn’t had any bookings since.

Despite some public and online banters, Tom Aspinall himself has said that at this rate, the chances are going stale, and he might have to move on soon enough. As for the public eye, historian of war Jon Jones told that he had informed UFC litigation of his plans to possibly defend his gold against the Englishman.
During his coaching stint at Thailand’s ALF Reality, Jones raised some alarms on a FaceTime call, saying he is done, possibly out of any future fights. He kept everyone guessing. However, the fighter took on a live Q&A during a training seminar at Bangtao Muay Thai MMA gym in Phuket. While he did say he spotted a gigantic mass of English fans pestering him for this fight, he had some positive notions.
I was waiting for it, …When you fighting Tom, mate? Guvna! …The UFC, I, and Tom, we all got a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes,” Jones said. They’re one of the biggest organizations in sports, and right now Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements in time, so I legally can’t really talk about it.

Earlier in the week, Jones also retorted he’d be back for more in the octagon “next year“, marking a possible Tom Aspinall fight as well. MMA insider and UFC play-by-play Jon Anik presented this week that brass is possibly angling for a late 2025 (December) PPV booking at the T-Mobile grounds. Right now, it’s all a “will he, won’t he” dire state, and fans await this matchup more than ever.
