Jon Jones continues delaying the heavyweight title unification fight and is avoiding interim champion Tom Aspinall despite fan demand and pressure. Instead of training for the expected showdown, Jones is currently spending time in Thailand and enjoying a luxurious, laid-back lifestyle. Through cryptic and carefully worded social media posts, Jones has dropped major hints that fuel speculation without offering any clarity.
Jones is currently in Thailand filming a Russian reality TV show similar to TUF, alongside fellow UFC veteran Nate Diaz. He recently participated in a social media interaction with fans, something he regularly does to stay connected and address questions directly. As expected, fans asked about Aspinall, and Jones claimed he had already informed the UFC of his intentions regarding that fight.
Yall barkin up the wrong tree, I told the UFC my plans a long time ago. I have no clue why they haven’t shared them with you guys yet.
UFC CEO Dana White has only shared positive updates, stating that they’re actively working on the Jones versus Aspinall fight. He previously revealed that negotiations for the anticipated heavyweight super-fight are completed and an official announcement should happen very soon. Despite these promises, the ongoing delay has left Aspinall deeply frustrated.

Recently, Aspinall’s father criticized Jones for inactivity, holding up the division, and preventing his son from earning money. Last year, the UK native tried everything possible to provoke ‘Bones’, using trolling tactics and making several disrespectful public comments repeatedly. Despite all efforts, nothing affected Jones, who remained focused solely on his planned fight with Stipe Miocic and avoided the UK native.
Has Jon Jones already quit fighting?
Jon Jones is currently 37 years old and believes he will soon retire after dedicating over a decade to the UFC. Throughout his career, he achieved everything possible, from becoming the youngest UFC champion to defending his title more times than anyone. His legacy stands among the greatest of all time, supported by a massive global fan base and unmatched career accomplishments.

As a result, he doesn’t want to risk his legacy for one fight against Aspinall, who has the tools to win. In a recent viral video, Jones was overheard casually mentioning that he’s finished with fighting and may not return again. Top MMA journalist Ariel Helwani later reviewed that clip and publicly shared his opinion on Jones’ potential departure on his podcast show.
What do you think? You think he's telling the truth? I actually think he is. This is what I've been saying the whole time. They presented the money and he said, 'yeah, I'm good', which God bless. It's a lot of money. I wish we could all be in that position. Anyways, that is in an interesting development.
Many fighters stayed too long, risking serious injuries, for example, Tony Ferguson, who refused to leave and suffered an eight-fight losing streak. Others like Henry Cejudo returned from retirement only to lose against younger opponents, ultimately damaging the legacy they once built. However, Jones is smart and wants to exit at the right time, stay healthy and preserve his legendary status.
It appears a new video of Jon Jones has emerged with him saying, "I'm done."

Moving forward, he plans to use his global fame to earn money outside the octagon rather than keep fighting directly. He has already expressed interest in following in the footsteps of WWE legend and Hollywood superstar Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s successful career. To begin that journey, Jones officially started his Hollywood career by appearing on a brand-new Netflix show recently.
