Jon Jones and First Round Management part ways after 11 years!

After 11 years with his management team, First Round Management, Jon Jones and FRM have decided to part ways. The team owned by popular agent Malki Kawa and his brother Abe Kawa has been with Jones, even before he became the youngest light-heavyweight champion.

First Round Management took to Twitter to make the decision official thanking Jon Jones and showing their gratitude towards the UFC heavyweight. Jon Jones later thanked the team on an Instagram post, wishing them blessings moving forward and in future endeavors.

Was it triggered due to the ongoing war between Jon Jones and Dana White?

First Round Management tweeted, “After an 11 year journey as Jon Jones’ management team, First Round Management and ‘Bones’ have amicably decided to part ways. We are proud of him and the work we’ve done. We wish him the best going forward,” First Round Management said in a statement released on social media.

Jon then thanked them on Instagram, “It’s been an absolutely amazing journey. Thank you so much for all the memories and business ventures. Wishing the Kawa family and everyone over at First Round Management many blessings moving forward. Glad to be able to call you guys friends for life.”

Speculations then arose that this might have been triggered due to the recent fiasco surrounding the fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. A payment dispute between UFC President Dana White and Jon Jones is still going on. And things got a bit heated recently, after White claimed in Bill Simmons’ podcast that Jones had wanted $30 million to fight Ngannou. Jon then ripped into White for letting this out in public without proof.

However Malki Kawa clarified that it was not triggered due to the Ngannou-Jones situation. He wrote on Instagram, “Sometimes it’s best to just walk away. Glad to have repped the p4p best fighter in @jonnybones for the last 11years. No this had nothing to do with his Ngannou negotiations. Jon has been handling that negotiation on his own and has been as he wanted to speak for himself when it came to the last few fights, so no, sorry fans, you can’t blame me. We all agreed it was just best to start over. @abraham and I are working on a lot of major things at #frm and sometimes you just have to know when to say when.
