Former World No.1 Jon Rahm recently opened up about the departure of Brooks Koepka. The 5-time major champion sent shockwaves across the golfing community when he left the Saudi-funded tour last month.
The American international was one of the high-profile names that left the PGA Tour and joined the league in first place. When Rahm was on the PGA Tour, Koepka left along with several others in big money deals.
Rahm would end up joining him in December 2023. After 4 years in the league, Koepka decided to step away. As per the league statement, the former Smash GC captain left the circuit due to some family reasons.

Koepka’s wife, Jena Sims, suffered a miscarriage. In a post on Instagram in October, she announced her pregnancy loss at 16 weeks.
On the recent episode of the Golf’s Subpar podcast, Rahm opened up about the exit of his former rival. While speaking with hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz, the Spaniard offered his support to him and wished him well.
I saw they made an announcement about a miscarriage. Luckily, I can’t say what that feels like. I don’t wish it on anybody. I know that’s tough on some people. I wish him the best. I’ve had some great times with Brooks on the golf course… Wish him nothing but the best.

Earlier in 2025, there had been rumors regarding him leaving LIV Golf. The golfer himself expressed that he was a bit uncertain regarding his future. He did have one year remaining on his deal with LIV Golf.
At the moment, it is uncertain what is next for him. While he has exemptions for the 4 majors, he will likely serve a 1-year suspension from the PGA Tour. He also does not have a membership for the DP World Tour but could play in its events on sponsors’ invites.
Jon Rahm reveals being called as ‘traitor’ by fans at Ryder Cup
At the 2025 Ryder Cup, Jon Rahm and Team Europe were subjected to severe abuse from fans. Speaking on the Subpar podcast, the 2-time major champion revealed that he was called a ‘traitor‘ by some of them at the Bethpage Black Course.

Rahm stunned the golf world when he joined LIV Golf in a deal reported to be around $600 million in December 2023. This came as a surprise to many, as just months ago, Rahm claimed that he would not like to get compensated by the PGA Tour for staying with them after the golf merger was announced.
During the 2025 Ryder Cup, Rahm would play alongside Sepp Straka and his LIV Golf teammate Tyrrell Hatton. The 31-year-old claimed that the fans made fun of their appearances and called them several names.
I had this guy in my ear calling me a traitor, terrorist, this and that. And first thing I want to say is I’m like, dude, a traitor to who? I’m not from this country, clearly.

Rahm’s teammate Rory McIlroy also suffered major abuse. The reigning Masters Champion was not only heckled constantly by the fans, but his wife and his child also heard some slurs. He would later lash out the fans and receive an apology mail from a PGA CEO.
Speaking of the Ryder Cup, Rahm and McIlroy tasted back-to-back success. The team emerged as 15-13 winners and clinched their 2nd straight win. Now, the duo are eyeing a three-peat in the 2027 edition at Adare Manor in Ireland.
