The English crowd had a good taste of red ball draining cricket for over a month. The flavors have changed, and the fans are in for some white ball entertainment. With The Hundred tournament currently in town, the balls are flying left, right and center and batters have freed up their blades.

In August 16 match between the Oval Invincibles and Welsh Fire, a batting storm broke out from the bat of Jordan Cox, who put up a show for his fans. The Invincibles were put into bat, and they started well as the first wicket fell at 76 with only 39 balls used up.

At that stage, many believed that the team might end up with 180, which is a very good score considering that there are only 100 balls to get them in. The fans had no idea what was to come next. No.3 batter Jordan Cox walked in and was on the move straight away.

It was in the set of Ajeet Dale that Cox went berserk. Balls 61, 62 and 63 were sent flying out of the park with some brute power. An entirely shaken Dale has no clue what hit him as he sprayed a massive wide. He did follow the previous beating with a good yorker to get some confidence back.

However, Cox was in no mood to face two dot balls in a row. He whacked the last ball of the set as well for six, making it four sixes in just five balls. That set was worth 25 runs for his side. Cox finished on an unreal 86 off just 29 balls, powering the Invincibles to invincibility with a massive score of 226 on the board. In return, the Fire could only manage to reach 143 before losing all their players.

Defending champions Oval Invincibles looking like their part

Defending champions Oval Invincibles are well and truly on their track to defend their prized title at the Hundred. Four matches into the event, and they already look like repeating history. The side started with commanding performances against the London Spirit and the Manchester Originals.

In their very first game, they spun a web around the Spirit and got them bundled for just 80. They made sure they chase down the runs in a flash to improve their NRR very early in the tournament. The team came over the challenge in just 69 balls.

The match against the Originals was even more commanding. Restricting the Originals to 128, it felt like a different pitch when the Invincibles came out to bat. They knocked off the runs in just 57 balls, further boosting their NRR.

They did have a blip against the Birmingham Phoenix, which was also a match they should have nailed before Rashid Khan had an off day. Phoenix batter Liam Livingstone tore into the spinner and got his team home with just two balls remaining.

The Invincibles brushed that loss away quickly to bounce back against the Welsh Fire. With Jordan Cox having a day out the Invincibles trashed the Fire by 83 runs to stabilize themselves once again at the top of the table. With three more matches to go, the Invincibles will look to be at their dominant best and secure a couple more wins to get into the knockouts with great momentum.
