UFC fans have always felt like they have been robbed of a potential fight between Jorge Masvidal and Conor McGregor. Two of the most polarizing personalities in the promotion’s history fighting each other would have been incredible. However, that ship has sailed and according to Masvidal, it was McGregor’s fault.

Jorge Masvidal recently appeared on the Timbo Sugar Show where he was asked about a potential fight with Conor McGregor. While responding to the question, the ‘Gamebred’ revealed that McGregor never wanted to fight because he was scared of losing.

Jorge Masvidal has been wanting to fight McGregor for a long time and has called out the ‘Notorious’ several times. After he retired from the UFC, Masvidal went on a series of rants against McGregor to get his attention. However, the Irishman never responded, which enraged Masvidal even more. Masvidal accused McGregor of being a steroid abuser and asked the UFC to test him.

Conor McGregor is currently slated to make his UFC return after three years. He will fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 and the MMA community is hyped about it. Other than this, McGregor has also taken the responsibility of being the promoter of BKFC. Something in which both him and Masvidal are competitors.

McGregor vs. Masvidal: The battle of bare-knuckle promotions

After he retired from UFC, Jorge Masvidal invested his time and money in his promotion, Gamebred BareKnuckle MMA. Masvidal has been quite serious about it and has held various events under his banner. Currently, he is promoting his boxing bout with former rival Nate Diaz, which has not been a smooth sail

On the other hand, McGregor shocked the world earlier this month after announcing his co-ownership in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. McGregor visited the popular promotion last year and is now one of the bosses.

With the owners of two of the biggest bare-knuckle promotions having such bad blood. It wouldn’t be surprising to both McGregor and Masvidal to take it side the ring, however, that’s not what McGregor wants. Recently, McGregor has also talked about his potential opponents including Diaz. Unfortunately, Masvidal was still not on the McGregor hitlist.
