India vs England 2021: “We always want to commit to this brand of cricket” – Jos Buttler speaks on England’s win in the second ODI
Jos Buttler expressed satisfaction with England‘s win over India in the second ODI at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The visitors were completely dominant on the day as they chased down a difficult total of 337 in less than 44 overs. Earlier, India had rode on excellent knocks from KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant to get to the competitive total. However, it proved no match to the English batters.
The Englishmen came out all guns blazing and Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes came up with knocks for the ages to completely flatten the Indian attack. The spinners Krunal Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav especially, were taken to the cleaners as India looked clueless on how to stop the onslaught.
Jos Buttler speaks on England’s win
Jos Buttler spoke about the win at the post match presentation and said, :Fantastic opening partnership again, they have been pillar of our strength for a long period of time. They have been outstanding at the top of the order. Delighted for Jonny to go on and reach the three-figures today and it was a top knock. That partnership with Ben Stokes was thrilling to watch. As a fellow player and as a fan to watch the fashion that they played, some of the strokes they took and the commitment to play in that way.”
Speaking of England’s ‘hammer and tongs’ approach to batting, he said, “Of course, we need to play smart at times but we always want to commit to that fashion that we play and the brand of cricket that we play as a side that served us so well for so long. It is very important that we continue when the conditions are suitable.”
Looking ahead at the decider on Sunday, Buttler said, “We played on some good wickets here in Pune, poised again with ‘winner takes all’ game at the end. We’ll look forward to that on Sunday.”
