Jose Aldo and Marlon Vera

The MMA community last saw Marlon Vera at UFC 252 on August 15, 2020. He faced Sean O’Malley, defeating him via first round TKO. Not to forget that Sean O’Malley was one of the hottest prospects, previously unbeaten inside the Octagon. With Mera’s stocks rising ever since, Jose Aldo vs. Marlon Vera is confirmed for UFC 255.

Marlon Vera set to return at UFC 255

After stopping Sean O’Malley’s hype train, Marlon Vera is set to return to the octagon against former featherweight king Jose Aldo in a crucial bantamweight contest. The win against O’Malley was considered to be controversial of sorts ( O’Malley suffered a freakish leg injury during the fight). But the booking against a legend like Jose Aldo is proof of the fact that Vera can fight the top guys in the 135lbs division.

Aldo, who many still consider the greatest featherweight champ in MMA history, held the title for many years until he was finally defeated by superstar Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 194. However, since then, Jose Aldo had a mixed run of form, having suffered losses to Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski while defeating Frankie Edgar, Jeremy Stephens, and Renato Moicano. He has now decided to make a fresh start at bantamweight in search of another title. The Brazilian lost his first fight in the division by a narrow decision against Marlon Moraes.

However, Dana White still handed Aldo a crack at the title against Petr Yan. However, he lost by fifth-round TKO. Having lost both his previous fights, Aldo will definitely be looking to bounce back. But, a tough opponent waits for him in the up and coming Vera.
